Ian, I was messaging with Karen (who arranged your booking) relentlessly for weeks on end trying to get an expected time of arrival, all I needed to know was if it would be a morning or afternoon arrival. Karen was very apologetic and said that you had not bothered to reply to her messages, all she knew was your arrival day. It's tricky to organize the 2 housekeepers and supervisor to do the check in not knowing the arrival time - this is the first time a guest refused to give an arrival time. To be safe I told Karen that I would pay the supervisor to be there from 9am through to 3pm to check you in, Karen assured me that she was certain you would be there by 3pm….. obviously that was a stab in the dark.
I had to personally pay my supervisor £78 to sit around waiting for you to "turn up" (£13 per hour from 9am-3pm). You finally arrived just before 6pm, this would not have been a problem if you'd have given me notice - I could have rearranged everyone's schedule around yours as I always do for my guests - but as it happens I thought it was rude and not in keeping with the spirit of Airbnb so I charged you £39 which was the cost of the supervisor sitting around for another 3 hours from 3pm-6pm…… and I'm glad I did.
I'm not entirely sure why you were offended by the £39 charge and felt the need to leave this review and mark the property down - I would have thought you'd be embarrassed and apologetic - you're obviously very entitled if you think it's ok for someone to sit around waiting 9 hours for you and then expect someone else to foot the bill! Try a hotel the next time.
