Isla Remanso: paradise on earth...
Remanso is a private destination to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature in the soothing waters of the Caribbean Sea. Only 1 hour away by boat from …
Our experience was absolutely incredible. I cannot speak highly enough of how beautiful and wonderful this spot is. The pictures do not begin to capture how beautiful it is. I would highly recommend getting the chef at the house as there are very limited resources for food on the Island itself, the food is amazing and it makes the experience that much better.
The experience was unique, the house was a rustic yet well equipped to spend a couple of days of total relaxation. My family and I enjoyed every minute of it. I highly encourage the daily meal package to avoid having to deal with the hassle of cooking and bringing groceries from Cartagena. The meals were good and the service was impeccable. Please note that boat rides provided by the home groundskeeper will cost you money. This island s main source of income is tourism and they will charge whenever there s a business opportunity. The prices always vary in Colombia, so be aware. In summary, please visit this house, it is a once in a lifetime experience. Tere is with you from beginning to end, great host.
Tere and her Cabaña were awesome!! I rented the Cabaña for a day pass with 15 other friends and family. I coordinated our own boat rental, but Tere was super willing to help set that up too. As part of the day pass we had the snacks and meals included. The food was delicious!! My only concern before we arrived was that there was no sand on the private beach (we had 4 children in our party ages: 6,7,10,11 - and kids love sand) but it really was no issue. The water was perfect and shallow enough at the edge for even those that weren't strong swimmers. The pictures do not do this place justice. Perfect for our day trip to Isla Grande!!
Isla Remanso is one of those magical places in South America - immersive in nature and virtually remote, with perfect hammock views of the southern sky. Tere was an extremely accommodating host, arranging transportation from Cartagena and a truly delicious menu of Colombian meals (that with very little notice... thanks again, Tere!). Willy is a wonderful caretaker and can walk you to town or around the island to different beaches if desired. The water and dock at the property are beautiful though... their snorkeling equipment was key for experiencing the underwater world of coral reefs! Truly unforgettable.
Isla Remanso is a very special place to enjoy with friends or family. We were extremely comfortable here and it is truly like a paradise. The house, the rooms, the dock- all are absolutely picturesque. Willy, the housekeeper, seamlessly takes care of his guests without being intrusive. We felt very comfortable the entire time and were not ready to leave after two nights. I would absolutely come back here.
No photos can do Isla Remanso justice! If you're looking for a simple place to relax and swim in beautiful aqua-colored water, this is the place for you. We only stayed one night, but could have really used two. The house, huts, and grounds are even better than they look in photos. I would definitely recommend you pay the extra fee to have Matty cook you delicious meals. It saved us the hassle of bringing our own food. Tere is a thoughtful host who will help you reserve transportation to the island which is the trickiest part.
My wife and I took a very last minute chance (given there were no previous reviews) and booked a night here. We enjoyed the stay so I would definitely recommend the place. We were only 2 people and as the place is quite large, I think it would be a great value for groups looking to head out to the islands and get some relaxing time on the waterfront. The place has a housekeeper and cook who were both very nice. Booking barely 2 days in advance ended up somewhat disappointing us in 2 of our meals, but the first lunch we had was excellent. I'm sure you could work this out more with Tere given some more advance planning. The place is spacious with two bedrooms+bathrooms upstairs and additional rooms out back. The downstairs is open with tables, rocking chairs and hammocks so it's nice to hang out at. The docks also have a table for 4 plus hammocks, and some sunbathing chairs. The beds and towels were clean, but as the place is a bit dated and relatively open to the elements, you should expect to see some wear evident. I think most people can get back this, especially if you're considering going out to an island that has no central power or water. (The place had bottled water and a generator was turned on in the evening) Last its worth mentioning you do need to account and arrange to get out to the island. Host Tere was super informative and came to meet us before departing Cartagena. She had explained the options to get out to the island in advance, but long story short, don't expect much from the public or private boats - you either go super early or pay a lot for a ride with some tour boat. Regardless, it was a bit chaotic but Tere definitely helped. Oh, bring a book and some wine/beer, maybe cards as there isn't much to do outside relaxing and sunbathing, or unless you arrange a tour or something. The place has a sea canoe that we used, but I would recommend only going out if there is no wind - the current was strong around there!
