Our rural ranch location is super easy to access. We are 12 mi.east of Durango, and a 15-20 min drive to city limits. A car is needed to visit restaurants, shopping, events, and attractions.

The Aspen Suite is located on the north end of the ranch house with a private entrance. Included is a "kitchenette", with its own dining area.
The Aspen Suite is separated from family living quarters in the front of the ranch house. It has a private side door entrance and covered porch.The entrance leads into your dining room, where continental breakfast table settings are ready for morning. The dining area is equipped with a French Press or electric drip coffee maker, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, and 3.3 cu ft fridge that is just right for personal and breakfast items
BREAKFAST is Self Serve. We provide coffee/tea, toast, English muffins, or bagels .The exit door at the east end of the dining room opens to a large deck for sunning, barbecue, and enjoying the outdoors.
The right side of the dining room enters into the family kitchen in the main house. We close the pocket doors between the family kitchen and the Aspen Suite Dining room for your privacy.
For your living space, sliding pocket doors open to a spacious room that includes a queen size bed, cot size bed, and a comfortable leather couch for relaxing and entertainment. By the east windows you can catch up on paperwork at a table that has ample space for a laptop and enjoying coffee or tea.
Sliding glass doors open to views of the mountains and the mesa. Your accommodation has a private half bath and additional shower suite, both which are within the main room.
We really want you to be comfortable both indoors and out. Nightfall brings a canopy of stars that is simply awesome. Enjoy some time on the deck in the evening as the sun sets, painting the sky in rich colors.
Sit by the fire of the wood stove in the winter for a cozy evening, or relax and enjoy one of the dvds available for our guests.
Sorry, but we do not have cable or satellite television services.We do have wifi internet service.
Popular activities in Durango and the surrounding area range from mountain biking, hiking, hunting, fishing, backpacking trips,snowmobile and jeep tours, rafting, skiing, horseback riding , rodeos, or a ride on the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train. Year 'round festivals include Music in the Mountains, Art Shows, and Cowboy Gatherings.
Nearby, you will find Mesa Verde National Park, Trimble or Pagosa Hot Springs, Durango Mountain Resort, Lake Navajo, Lemon Lake, and Vallecito Reservoir, as well as excellent fly fishing on the Animas River. The Native American Cultural Center and Museum is just 15 minutes away in Ignacio.Sky Ute Casino and Resort is home to concerts and events, bowling, and fine dining, in addition to casino activities. Durango has a variety of galleries and historic landmarks for you to enjoy.

We have wifi for your internet needs. We do not have cable tv, but do have a variety of great dvds for your viewing pleasure.

The dining room entrance to the Aspen Suite is just next to the kitchen of the main ranch house- the heart of our home- and available to share if you would like to cook something. Just let us know in advance . Please note: The courtesy of cleaning up after eating and cooking is a house rule. Your dishes can easily can go in the dishwasher or the kitchen sink.Thank you!
We are a working family, but available to our guests .The Aspen Suite is a separate addition on the north end of our small ranch home. We do our best to offer you a quiet and private experience,and yet we are right there in the front of the house if you should need anything. Sometimes guests enjoy sharing a meal or conversation with us, sometimes our schedules do not allow for that. We always want you to feel at home, free to share common areas, and be an honored guest. Just let us know if there are any needs or requests that we can accommodate.
It is important to note that the Aspen Room is located within the main ranch house on the north end of the home. It is not a separate building,such as 2nd Wind Guest Casita, our other listing on Airbnb. Guests who stay in the Aspen are more likely to have interaction with the family, and yet, privacy is mutually respected.
Absolutely no smoking- we are strictly smoke free.
There are pets on the property, but we cannot accept reservations for guests with pets.
Quiet hours after 11pm for the courtesy of all. If you are arriving late, please be aware of guests in the Guesthouse, and respect their privacy by parking your vehicle in the center of the horseshoe shaped driveway, near the front yard. Thank you!
Originally from the Hudson River/Shawangunk region of New York State, Tom and Gail re-located to Colorado in 2006 to explore the amazing southwest culture. Through Airbnb, we enjoy opening our home and hospitality to people from, so far, over 36 countries. A guest from Belgium once said she was trying to determine if she wanted to be a desert or a mountain dweller, and here in the "Four Corners" of the United States, we have ready access for both choices. All seasons have their beauty, and are easy to adapt to, thanks to a moderate climate.
Tom is a craftsman who can build or fix anything! His warm personality and smile is his trademark, and his Irish roots are part of his love for sharing stories, ideas, and conversation. Tom is great at noticing your needs, and offering his assistance. He loves to ride "the orange carrot" his road bicycle, and explore the natural scenic beauty of the area.
Gail has been everything from a cook, to a singer, to her current work for United Airlines at Durango-La Plata Airport. She is also a very "hands on" type of person-with landscaping, homeschooling, and massage therapy, in her background.
