Bring your passport and enjoy an international vacation destination! Windsor, Ontario, is this area's best-kept secret. Located directly across the river from Detroit, it enjoys all the amenities (culture, sports and entertainment) that Detroit has to offer, while keeping the feeling of a smaller town.
Come and enjoy our beautiful vintage home with award-winning gardens within steps of Coventry Garden waterfront park, the Detroit River and Peace Fountain. Enjoy our safe, quiet tree-lined boulevard and your spacious private room with cloud-like queen size bed with luxury bedding and private bath. Room has a sitting area with breakfast station, microwave and a small fridge for your convenience. Free wifi, and on street parking available.

In the morning, watch the ships pass by on the Detroit River while you enjoy a bottomless cup of coffee (I did say my relatives are American, didn't I?) on our beautiful verandah. We are close to public transportation and minutes from the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Head to Detroit to enjoy the Detroit Institute of Arts, housing many renowned masterpieces. Attend sporting events at Comerica Park, Ford Field or Joe Louis Arena. Only a bus ride away, Detroit is so close that it is recognized as our "home" teams. Come and cheer for the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings!

Every January, car enthusiasts flock to Detroit for the much-anticipated Detroit International Auto Show . You haven't seen anything until you have seen it in the Motor City!
If you are a runner, the Detroit Marathon held in October is unique, crossing the border twice, running over the Ambassador Bridge and through the Detroit-Windsor tunnel.
Every November, the Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) attracts visitors from near and far for screenings of the most talk-about films of the year. Now in its eleventh year, this festival has grown to a major event in our area! Come be part of it!
Stay on this side of the border and tour the Hiram Walker Distillery (the home of Canadian Club), attend world class entertainment at Caesars Windsor, visit the chic new restaurants in Walkerville. or attend one of the many festivals at our Festival Plaza on the waterfront. This is a great place for foodies and locavores! Do some day-tripping and "Explore the Shore", visiting the many award-winning wineries in the region, and enjoy our local produce. You can even follow the route of the Underground Railroad! We can provide you with a guidebook and map of the region and give you our suggestions for "must sees" in our area. Take a picnic (we will provide the picnic basket and blanket) and enjoy the sunset on the Detroit River
Come back and relax in our hot tub (especially if you have been running, sight-seeing or sitting outside in the stands!) or sit under our wisteria-covered pergola, have a barbeque, and watch the fireflies in summer. You will have a wonderful time!

This is my home, and for clarity, I am on site when I have guests (to be compliant with city (URL HIDDEN) also gives the neighbours peace of mind). Although I am retired, I have a busy life, and am often out and about. However, I am always available by phone or text, and will help with suggestions for activities or restaurants, or the history of the area if you need it. I love this area, and want you to experience all it has to offer!

We believe all people using AirBnB are fundamentally good people so a trust system is in place at our home... Please respect our home as you would yours. Please also remember that this is a heritage home (almost a hundred years old!), not a hotel. People using Airbnb do so at their own risk. While normal safety precautions are put in place, we assume no responsibility for personal injury while on the property.

For security reasons, you will be asked to show proper photo identification (passport, driver's licence) on arrival.

PLEASE NO SMOKING, PLEASE NO SMOKERS:We are non-smokers, and we appreciate that you also want a smoke-free environment.

PLEASE NO PETS: We know that pet owners are wonderful people (our children all have pets!), but for the comfort of all, we do not allow them here. We will help to find you a reliable kennel to board your pet.

Please note: Use any of our products, foods etc., with caution if you have allergies.

BEDROOM(S) AND BATHROOM- Clean and fresh bedding (we even wash the bedspread between guests...better than a hotel!) and towels will be provided along with a variety of toiletries and a hair dryer to use during your stay. An iron and ironing board are also available. Let us know if you need anything. Chances are we have it!

HOT TUB- You are welcome to use the hot tub, but use caution and use it at your own risk. We keep it cooler in the summer, and hotter in the winter, so that we can stay outside longer, but can adjust the temperature for your comfort.

PARKING- There is ample street parking available at no charge. This is generally a safe and quiet neighbourhood, but also an upscale one, and can be a target for thieves. Please lock your car.
We are also just a few minutes from the train station.

Please help us to keep the house clean and neat, for the enjoyment of all. The telephone number to our house is (phone number hidden), and my cell phone number is (phone number hidden))

Carol is a superb Airbnb host – on our visit, she was very welcoming and knowledgeable and really went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and pleasurable. Her place is very clean, nicely furnished, spacious and located in a safe, quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking just one-half block from the Detroit River. There is a lovely little park at the end of the block on the river with a charming multi-colored, lighted fountain with the Detroit skyline as a backdrop. The room with private bath is well-appointed with a very comfortable bed and plenty of towels – and a dresser, desk, luggage stand, microwave and coffee maker. Not that we needed a coffee maker – Carol had a fresh pot of coffee going every morning when we came downstairs, along with some fresh fruit, yogurt and absolutely delicious, homemade made pumpkin bread. It was an easy, scenic ride via Riverside Drive to downtown Windsor and through the tunnel to Detroit. We followed Carol’s recommendations for some excellent local restaurants and entertainment that we never would have discovered on our own. On the final morning as we were departing, Carol surprised us with some of the pumpkin bread as a snack for our drive to Toronto. All in all a very nice visit – and we would definitely stay with her again.

My daughter and I visited Windsor, in May 2017, for a swim meet my daughter was attending. We booked a room at Carol's place with ease. Carol was a pleasure to work with, from the moment I first sent her an inquiring email to the last day of our stay! She welcomed us with freshly baked cookies, milk, coffee and a clean and comfortable room. The bathroom was two steps across the hallway and had all the amenities we needed. BONUS: heated tile floors!! During our stay, Carol went above and beyond as a host to make sure my daughter got the rest she needed and made us a delicious continental-type breakfast each morning of our (URL HIDDEN) 6:00 a.m. no less!! While at Carol's, she showed me around her property and showed me how to operate the hot tub. It was wonderful to come back to her home after a very long day at the swim meet and be able to soak by myself in the tub! Carol made a wonderful suggestion on where to go for (URL HIDDEN) daughter's favorite. I enjoyed the chats Carol and I had as we were coming and going throughout the day. She was a busy woman herself that weekend but always made herself available if we needed anything or had a question. Now my only problem I have is when to return, especially to be able to walk the parks that dotted the Detroit riverfront that were just steps away from Carol's front porch! We wouldn't hesitate to stay with Carol again in the future! She's even invited my husband and son to come along next time! So thank you, Carol, for being such a wonderful, international Airbnb host! You make a great ambassador for your country! From across the river in Michigan, Vickie and Madison
Vicky, I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay, and that Madison did well in her meet. You were delightful guests, and are welcome back anytime. Please come back and explore our region,..we have so much to offer!

I had a very enjoyable evening with Carol. She made me feel at home in her charming house. In the morning I had a delicious omelette and fruits and coffee. Carol is an interesting person and has a warm personality. From her house one can see the Detroit skyline. I would definitely seek her out when I go to Windsor again. Thanks, Carol, for everything!Carol'

Carol was such an incredible host! She made us delicious breakfast each morning and made us feel very comfortable in her house. Carol definitely goes above and beyond in hosting -- thinking through the little details, like keeping spare toothbrushes for guests (which turned out handy for us) and giving a a home baked snack for the trip back. The house is beautiful and the park by the river is especially lovely this time of year. The neighborhood is very quiet and feels safe. I would love to stay at Carol's again. Five star airbnb experience!

It was a joy meeting and staying with Carol. She is warm and friendly, very accommodating and we felt as if we were staying with an old friend. We loved her home and neighborhood. We especially enjoyed talking with Carol on her porch. She made us a fabulous breakfast before we left to continue on our journey. She was an incredible host! We would love to go back.

I nominate Carol as super host of the year! She was so welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. She went above and beyond her duties as a host and not to mention how lovely her house guest room was. She had fresh flowers and anything we could possibly need during our stay. Carol is quite the chef and prepared such a delicious breakfast. Her private and beautiful back yard with a grill, lounge and jacuzzi was a great place to spend an evening! All of this within a prime location near the Detroit river park and other entertainment in historic Windsor! I highly recommend her listing!
Thank you, Emily and Joe! It was my pleasure to host the both of you, and I look forward to your return visit!

We had a wonderful time with Carol! Her house is warm and comfortable, (especially loved the heated tile bathroom floor!) and she provided fluffy towels, bathrobes, and our room had a small fridge, microwave and retro coffeemaker. The neighborhood was in full spring bloom with magnolia and pink and white blossoms. We enjoyed the front porch and witnessed two huge ships pass by on the river. Carol gave us many suggestions and info about Windsor, and she is very involved in much of what Detroit has to offer as well. We feel we've made a new friend and would recommend her place as a great introduction to Windsor or simply a warm welcome for any traveler. Thanks a million, Carol!

Happily retired from a career in education, I enjoy travelling and adventure, and now have more time for both. I have visited several countries in Europe and plan to go back (an extended stay in Italy is still on the list!) and have hiked through the rainforests of Costa Rica and stayed in remote villages.
I am a native Windsorite; I moved to Toronto for five years in the 80s and came back because I missed the amenities offered here in our international location. Since most of my family is located in the U.S., I have travelled seamlessly between the two countries my entire life. I enjoy everything that the unique Windsor-Detroit area has to offer, and will help you to find the best places to go on both sides of the border, for arts, culture, food or entertainment.
Having travelled much for business and pleasure, I hope to make your stay here comfortable and enjoyable. I love to meet people and I am looking forward to meeting you!
