Trout Creek Camp is a family-owned property of nearly 200 forested acres with streams and wildlife located in the foothills of the Willamette Valley, about a one-hour drive from Portland.
Your rustic cabin is located directly on the confluence of rushing Trout Creek and the sparking Molalla River, a tributary of the majestic Columbia.
The cabin has panoramic views of the clean, clear river, teeming with salmon and trout. You may frequently see river otters or beavers building their homes.
The cabin sits at the confluence of Trout creek and the Molalla river; the white noise a meditative backdrop to your stay. Within the cabin you'll find a master bedroom with 1 queen bed, love seat, side tables and reading lamps. In the living room / sleeping loft you'll find two queen beds and two full size couches, reclining chair and reading space with a good little selection of books and a couple board games. The kitchen overlooks the "punch bowl" of the river, a picturesque swimming and salmon fishing hole known throughout the area as the best around. The cabin is well outfitted with a full size fridge, electric stove/oven, dining table and chairs, microwave, coffee maker, blender and utensils. The bathroom has a claw foot tub/shower, toilet, sink, mirrors, hair dryer, plenty of towels, and typical toiletries.
A broad sitting porch overlooks the confluence, perfect for reading, writing or relaxing.
The soothing sounds of the river and creek will wash away your everyday cares. Plunge into the crystal clear water to swim in the natural pools, or hike up the river or creek to enjoy the irreplaceable unique beauty of our mature forest.
Enjoy rhododendron blooming in the spring or pick blackberries in the summer. Try your luck fishing for the salmon lazily circling in the river (license required). Hike the trails on the property or through the adjacent conservation lands.
This rustic retreat is ideal for nature lovers, writers, hikers, fishermen and contemplative types.
If you require all the modern conveniences, this beautiful property may not be the best fit for you. Cell phone service is spotty. But we've got enough comforts to keep your mind and body happy and to check your e-mail!
The freshly cleaned house will be unlocked in preparation for your stay. If self-checking in, the hide a key is on the big gray door on the porch. Settle in, start the fire and slow down or drop your bags and hit the river and hot tub! You'll have access to 200 acres of old growth forest along the Molalla river and trout creek along with tens of miles of public roads and hiking/biking trails just across the river. Two separate hot spring destinations (Breitenbush, Bagby) are located within 2 hrs of the property along with the world famous Silver Falls (1hr). Also, the mesmerizing gigante, Mt Hood, can be seen on clear days en route to the property and is within striking distance at about 1 1/2 hrs. A nature lovers paradise, Oregon is known as a verdant outdoorsy and mindful state which we attempt to embody at Trout Creek! The bustling colorful city of Portland beckons only 45 min away with countless restaurants and an endless array of nightlife and entertainment for any and all. Dream, meditate, fish, hike, swim, stretch, drink, eat, be merry, and in the evening, when the tops of the wizened Douglas Firs lean into the twilight and the light comes from within, by any means, sit and be still.
