Jessy and her family were very welcoming. They were very kind and gave us lots of good advice about the island. The chalet we stayed in was simple but very clean and had everything we needed (air-con in bedroom, comfortable bed, big clean bathroom). The patio is lovely with a view of the ocean and the chalet we stayed in was tucked into a beautiful private garden with orchids and 2 tortoises.
There was a mix-up when we arrived and we actually were put into the ocean-view 1 bedroom garden chalet instead of the 2 bedroom ocean garden gazebo chalet we booked being reviewed here. So, my review is really relevant to the other chalet rather than the one pictured here. We were confused about the differences when we arrived but since we didn't have internet, and booked several vacation rentals in the same time period, we didn't confirm the mistake for a few days. It is important to note that Jessy told us she locks the second bedroom of the two bedroom when you only have 2 paying guests (so it is effectively a 1 bedroom anyways unless you have 3 or more guests). I don't think this was clear from the description.
Overall despite the mix-up we were happy with our stay and would recommend staying with Jessy and her family. Just bring a printout of your booking when you arrive.
It is important to know that this part of the island is beautiful but doesn't have easy walking access to grocery stores, restaurants, beaches etc. There is a small beach in front of the apartment but there are many other beautiful beaches that are worth exploring. It is a long bus ride to Victoria, beau vallon etc. So, you definitely need a car to fully enjoy Mahe if you stay in Au Cap. Driving around the island is fun and easy but it does add the cost of a rental car to your holiday (around 40 euro per day). Jessy's family has a rental car that they can provide you.
