A 100 years old traditional Japanese wooden house, on the idyllic Ishigaki island, far south of Japan in Okinawa Archipelago, well known for its scenic beaches and world class diving spots. We rent the house, and help you to organise your stay.
There are 6 rooms in the house. But sometimes. 6 rooms is too much, so we propose several configurations. This listing, is for group of 12 people max, aiming to use 4 for rooms (you can choose 4 between the 6 rooms, the 2 others rooms stay closed, you are the only guests in the house). For bigger groups, or if you need more rooms, check the other listing Kashikiri 18p, and Kashikiri 21p.
You will sleep in traditional Japanese style: Futons on tatamis. Each room has its own shower/toilet in the room, except for Kumanomi room, where he shower and toilet is in a separated room a few meters away.
Each bedroom is equipped with air conditionner, a fridge, microwave and toaster so you can have simple meals in the room. All bedrooms are upstairs, downstairs is the kitchen, dining/living room, Tatami room, irori room, engawa, terrasses and gardens. The whole house is about 500 sq m.
We live in another house a few meters away, so we are here when you need us but we don't interfere in your activities.
Our basic offer is weekly room rental, because we believe it is the time needed to discover Ishigaki and the surrounding Yaeyama islands, enjoy watersports, relax in our house, and discover the Okinawan way of life.
Guests can use all the house, except the private area (see floor map in the pictures) that is used as warehouse.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, a big tatami room where you can organise activities such as Yoga or lectures, 2 terrasses and garden where you can relax.
We live in another house nextdoor, so we are here when you need information, but we don't interfere. We are always happy to exchange with guests and give tips about our preferred places and activities around the island.
Meals: We can prepare breakfast everyday except Sunday (1000 yen)
We can also prepare dinner on request.
To rent a car don't forget to bring adequate license (international license or traduction in Japanese of you license depending on your country)
No smoking, but you can smoke outside on the terrasse.
No noise between 22h and 7h (like in all old wood houses, noise insulation is not very good).
No shoes in the house, no walking barefoot outside the house (it is a basic rule in Japan to keep the house clean)
We don't clean the room during your stay, but we provide you cleaning tools (vaccum cleaner,...). You don't need to clean up the room when you leave., we do it.
