Come enjoy our lakefront home in Hope, where you will look out over clear waters, forested islands, mountains, and stunning sunsets! Walk to a great restaurant nearby, enjoy the dock and our boat lift and truly relax in a landscaped location!
We have a sizable game room with 18 foot ceilings, pool or ping pong table, large windows, and an over-sized slider door facing the lake and Schweitzer Ski Mountain. The doorway gives access to an 8-person hot tub under a covered deck, 10 x 60’ dock and the water’s edge. We also have a permanent boat lift next to the dock for your boat if your boat is not more than 19 feet!
Our house is nestled in a quiet residential area, in Hope, Idaho, off a dead-end main access road only a mile and half from Highway 200. (Highway 200 is an Idaho Scenic Byway and the main road from Sandpoint to Hope, Clarkfork and Montana) The house was built in 2002 and has modern elements, woodsy warmth and charm, and can’t help but show my French heritage in furniture and décor. My husband is also an artist, so his paintings decorate our walls.
The entry level has a covered porch with a table, 4 chairs and an outdoor propane heater for inclement weather. The front door leads to a vaulted living room, comfortable reclining chairs, cozy couch and a gas fireplace. French doors also open to a large, upper outdoor deck overlooking Pend Oreille Lake, the islands and surrounding mountains.
You will be renting a bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed and direct access to the bathroom with a shower/tub. The sleeping loft is situated in the daylight lower level of the house and has a double bed and heavy curtains for privacy. This room is accessed by a sloped 11-step ladder with a short railing. The house has a large, formal dining room, fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, gas fireplace, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher. Laundry facilities are in the pantry with a utility sink. We have a gas barbeque on the upper main deck. There are approximately 2700 square feet of interior space at your disposal.
Our upstairs level is our master bedroom and bath and will be closed to guests. We have Direct TV, DVD/CD (170 DVDs), and WIFI. We have also stocked the house with basics including detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, Zip Lock bags and aluminum foil, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and soap. As I enjoy cooking a great deal, you will find many cooking utensils and pans and a multitude of spices. Please feel free to use them.
Our North Idaho area is well known for the many recreational activities that are available. Besides fishing on the lake or from our dock, there are many streams waiting. Hundreds of trails to hidden waterfalls or mountain lakes are to be found locally. Golf can be played at a championship course, The Idaho Club located on the way to Sandpoint about 8 miles away. Many people enjoy raspberry or blueberry picking at local farms or huckleberry picking in the mountains.
Visiting Schweitzer for skiing in the winter or hiking at other times gives an unbelievable, breathtaking panorama of our lake and surroundings. Schweitzer runs their chair lift during summer weekends so hiking down is a great exercise and also a great reason for a picnic.
We have two kayaks that you are welcomed to use and horse-shoe pits at the top of the property.
To the left of the house while looking at the lake, there is beachfront easement with steps leading to the water. This is used in the summer by a few back lot owners for lake egress and ingress. This area is for our renters use as well.
Since we are situated on Hope Peninsula, an animal preserve, there are many deer that would love to have access to our 1 ½ acre yard, regardless of the time of year. This is where the biggest and most important request comes forward. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE ENTRY GATE REMAINS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES! THE LATCH NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PLACE as the variable temperatures shrink the metal and loosen the closure. This guards against a deer pushing its way in (as they have done in the past!) or the wind causing the gate to open. The same closure rules applies to the side gate to the lake near the back door.
It is important to note that we lost our old Schnauzer recently and that a dog lived here even though we don't want to allow dogs now.
Please treat the house gently as it is our home. Let us know if anything has broken or needs attention and have a great time and enjoy!
