We stayed three nights in I G Ngurah's homestay and got the best room of it, I guess. The view from the big balcony to the jungle was great. I just loved it! The homestay is located in the city center. But you don't hear any traffic. Anyway I share Sabine's opinion. The bathroom could be cleaner, the mosquito net should be changed and there could be more storrage in the room. But it's still a nice room. The staff is really friendly but they can't speak English. So the communication was sometimes a bit difficult. Not with I G Ngurah. He is a sympathetic guy who likes to make your stay pleasant as possible. Thank you for everything!
The lush valley with jungle vegetation behind the guesthouse is a nourishing experience, with direct views from most rooms -- and the most private room we were in was right on the edge of the ravine. The pictures don't do it justice! The family and staff were all very nice and helpful, even inviting me into their private kitchen to show me how they prepare the daily offerings. And that was a plus that the listing did not reveal -- that the guest house is adjacent to the family dwellings, and thus a "homestay." Having even a small glimpse of family life made the experience all the more richer! Your room/bathroom may not look as exquisite as the pictures, but staying at Latugu provides great value. The location is also perfect if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of central Ubud, yet within easy walking distance. They can also provide transportation and day trips.
This place was amazing. The hospitality was over the top. Breakfast was made to order and brought to me by Yoman who served it with ceremony of a twirl upon entering, as he also did with the offerings on my balcony. The room was beautiful and large as was the bathroom. My room had a balcony overlooking it's own garden area and the jungle. The balcony had a lovely bench, table. When I asked if by any chance there was an extra writing table on the premises... they set one up for me so I could write. Ngurah was very helpful... took me to the Elephant Cave Temple and helped me sort out a sim card issue, etc. The room and large patio were private and felt like a home... it was so peaceful and just the sound of the animals. Aircon was great...not too cold, not too hot. Wifi great. Bed and sheets with a comforter (not in most places) were very comfortable. Attention to detail was there in the layout, decor, etc. Mostly the energy of this place is very peaceful and healing. I would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
This was a lovely and quiet place to stay. The room is big and the bed is comfy. Ngurah is a very thoughtful person, always checking to see if he could help me in any way :) There are a few vegetarian and vegan restaurants on the street serving great food and the Indian place out the front serves delicious meals! I would definitely stay again. Thank you :)
