The 3-bedroom house is situated on a wooded sloping shore of the Lake of Carces with beautiful views over the lake. You can relax in the swimming pool, go walking in the woods or sample Provençal cuisine in the surrounding ancient villages.
This house is hidden away in a lovely secluded forested area around a lake, perfect for a relaxing getaway, but still in easy driving distance of plenty of picturesque French villages and the beautiful beaches of the Cote d'Azure. We followed Serge's comprehensive directions closely as the roads around Lac du Carces are a bit of a maze, but it wasn't too difficult to find. The key holder lives next door so check in was easy and we got straight into the pool. The house itself is lovely with a tranquil view over the forest and the lake. There are other houses around but they are screened by trees so it feels very private. The two double bedrooms have doors that open on to the front balcony and all three bedrooms have their own bathroom, two of them en-suite. There is no air-con but there were fans in all of the rooms. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking implements we needed and there was a dishwasher. The pool was fantastic - we swam everyday and as it was extremely hot when we were there (up to 37 degrees) we found the pool area was the coolest place to sit in the daytime. Fortunately there were enough sun loungers for all of us. The wifi was patchy at best due to the remote location, but we entertained ourselves in the evenings with the great selection of James Bond DVDs. The beach is about an hour's drive away - we went to Sainte-Maxime which was lovely. We also took a drive to Verdon Gorge which was spectacular. We had a couple of good meals out in nearby Carces, (15/20 minute drive) which is also where we bought groceries. A lovely relaxing spot if you're looking for somewhere private and picturesque to get away from the crowds. Highly recommended.
