This apartment is superbly situated close to the government district, including the Reichstag, Central Station, numerous restaurants, the Museum Island, and much else. This is by far the most attractive area of Berlin that I've seen, and the apartment is in a very quiet street with many attractive pre-war buildings. Not only is the street quiet, I heard virtually nothing from the neighbours, so I could sleep easily at night. My only concern is that it gets very warm too quickly, as there are no curtains and only very thin blinds on some of the numerous windows. As there's no a/c one has to leave windows open and rely on a single cooling fan. This also makes the apartment very bright at night, including the main bedroom. However, my priorities were location and quiet, in which the apartment scores 100 per cent. One has excellent facilities in the apartment, including comprehensive cooking hardware, almost none of which I used. There's a large TV, very fancy hi fi all-in-one, and plenty more. There are numerous shops in the area, including supermarkets, bakers, chemists, and much more. I left with a great deal of nostalgia for the place, not least for giving me the best possible experience of this great city.
This apartment is spacious, stylishly decorated and yet with a very warm, homey feeling. We really felt at home there and were so happy every time we opened the door to see it again. The kitchen is very well equipped and we found everything we needed to make our stay fabulous. The location is a great launching pad to everything in Berlin - it's so central and close to transport. We stayed for a month and explored each area one by one. There is a great Italian restaurant downstairs. Even though the immediate area isn't teaming with bars and cafes, if you look around there are some real gems within a few minutes walk. We loved the Boese Buben bar in Marianstrasse, Refinery coffee in Albrechtstrasse and the House of Small Wonders in Johanesstrasse. Our host Eylem has been very welcoming, super responsive to our needs and has been very flexible with arrangements. We loved staying in Eylem's apartment and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly. I just wish I could make my own home look as nice.... Note that there is no lift and quite a few stairs. We still managed OK with our big bags. The internal courtyard was a great place to store the bike we hired.
