1 bedroom apartment and 1 living room located between Bastille and Place des Vosges
Lovely apartment surrounded by typically Parisian restaurants and shops
Located at 5 minutes from Metro Bastille
The whole apartment will be reserved for you.
We had a wonderful experience staying in Magda’s airbnb in Paris. The location is fabulous - just a block or so from the Bastille, a major transportation center for the Metro and buses with a taxi stand less than half a block away. Food stores, restaurants and cafés, are nearby, as well as the fascinating Marais district. The apartment building itself is very old with a tiny elevator, but an elevator nonetheless which transports you and your luggage to the 5th floor. And the apartment is beautiful - with lovely antique furniture, very comfortable beds, a nice bathroom, and a very well equipped kitchen. There are actually two beds - one that you can see in the pictures on airbnb; the other is a sofa bed - the most comfortable sofa bed I have ever slept on. The entire apartment is immaculately clean - I walked around in white socks for all four days that we were there - and my socks were still white at the end of our stay! We had an impromptu party one afternoon for some eight French guests and found the apartment comfortable and inviting and well equipped for such entertaining. When we arrived, we were greeted by Raphael, a very personable young man who works for Magda and who gave us a complete tour of the apartment, including how to work the dishwasher and washing machine. We found the only drawback to the apartment was the noise. This did not bother us because while we were there the weather was cool enough that we did not need to keep the windows open all the time. But when we did open the windows for fresh air, including our impromptu party, the noise was terrible - loud traffic including very loud sirens. Perhaps the addition of a small air conditioning unit could make this apartment absolutely perfect! We would have been happy to live here for months!
I liked Magda's apartment very much, centrally located and close to the metro and the marais as well as bastille, the bed was comfortable, the apartment was quiet despite the street being busy. There was a mix up with the time I was to check in, but other than that, the person that let me in showed me all the amenities, the only hiccup is that the door code did not work and neither did the intercom phone, so when I ordered food late one night, I had to go down to get it. I think this would be an issue with the building. Thanks Madga and will recommend your place to others.
This a great apartment. My wife and I and our two teen age girls stayed here very comfortably for 8 days. Good access to public transport, although we used Über exclusively. We spent a wonderful day exploring the Marais on foot, including the Village St. Paul, Place des Vosges, the Sully Hotel, and the Museé Carnavalet. We also had a couple of very memorable dinners at two restaurants just around the corner. In short, we really looked forward to returning "home" after our forays out in the city.
I use AirBnb often and believe that honest feedback is the most valuable so future guests can make the best decisions about how to spend their money. LOCATION: This apartment is a good value for the location but that location has its pros and cons: PROS: - Gorgeous view out the front windows. - Near transportation and right on the border of two vital neighborhoods: Le Marais and La Bastille and all the great restaurants and shops you'd expect. CONS: - Terribly loud. In the warm months you must leave the windows open because the apartment is very warm/hot. The noise of the very busy Rue St. Antoine on which the apartment sits, are literally in the apartment. The noise goes on most of the night. On one cool night, we were able to close the great windows and it was pretty darn quiet. - Very warm/hot. The apartment gets a direct southern/ south west sun. Although there are draperies and blinds, they can't quell the heat. The fans just circulate the warm air. THE APARTMENT: the two front rooms are quite lovely; one truly feels French. Note: the two beds are actually one bed and one sofa bed...both comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen have a hodge-podge of renovations but have everything one needs. Beware! there is a sloped ceiling under which the toilet is located. I hit my head a couple of times. There is a faint must smell in the apartment. The Building: Security is good. The elevator is exceptionally small even by Paris standards. We are two, fit, adult men who had to press into one another to get in. Depending on your luggage, you may have to send the bag up and head up the stairs to get it. The common areas are quite dirty and bleak. Think bohemian Greenwich Village tenement. HOST COMMUNICATION I found communication with Magda to be delayed and, initially impolite. She immediately shutdown my use of French, which I know is not great, but is not terrible either. She is also not hands-on. Requests go though her to others, which is fine if responsive. It took two days to get an extra set of keys. She largely ignored any texts or calls from my friend of whom she was aware and knew his info. My request for the "cooling unit" which she was as an option provided on a list in the apartment was at first deferred and later said to have been broken by another airbnb guest earlier in the month. Finally, she gave me no notice about where to leave the keys on departure, so we planned to leave in the apartment. At nearly midnight the night before our 7 a.m. departure I got a text asking when her rep could come by to get it from us the next day. She apologized for the inconvenience of the call.
We stayed in Magda's charming Parisian apartment for almost three weeks and it was awesome. We loved arriving at a clean unit with every amenity you could need provided for. It so very well located; just minutes walk to Place Bastille, Place Des Vosges, and the old Jewish quarter. Several bus lines are close by, as well as metro stops. The Monoprix grocery, bakeries, restaurants, fromagerie, clothing boutiques, et al, are all on the same street. Magda was the best! Totally excellent!
