Our sustainable home was designed to share with friends and family. The generous proportions of the house with its multitude of nooks and intimate spaces allow for privacy no matter the number of guests.
This architecturally designed and sustainably built home sits high on the great ocean road with panoramic views of the ocean. Nestled in the bush our Grey River oasis features a rammed earth wall, a wood fired heater and solar hot water. An organic garden built on perma-culture principles features out the back. Enjoy the fruits of our labour with vegies from the garden or pull a weed if you prefer.
The home has been designed for a sustainable active life with a bike room and bunk room for training camps giving birth to the concept "Ride with Phil". There are many other times our home is available to share. Create your own training camp on the most beautiful section of the GOR. Ride to your hearts delight if riding is your thing in this purpose built riders base. There are a number of routes to build up the K's or simply stay and enjoy the serenity in this quiet bushland setting. Share this house with friend or family in the 4 star bunk room below.
There are cafes close by, many travel a great distance to "the Wye General" only 10kms from your door or the Kennett River Cafe and store only 3kms away. Lorne and Apollo Bay beckon . A secluded and almost private beach waits across the road. A haven for fishermen with a short 300m beach walk to a beach cove for swimming. Your hosts have 2 border collies who will be delighted to take you on local walks. Alternatively the yard is pet friendly although the seedlings do take a battering.
There is a bountiful garden that takes some work and we spend as much time in our home as possible, riding and cooking the seasonal delights from the garden.
Grey River is isolated but able to be accessed by VLine from Melbourne to Geelong and coach to Apollo Bay. The coach will stop at Kennett River but it is not unknown to request of the driver for a drop at Grey River right by the door - but be prepared to walk if he can't . A car is preferable and we are definitely a bike friendly home.
