Spacious, brick between post, circa 1840 Creole cottage: 2,300 sq ft filled with antiques & modern amenities with a lush tropical garden. Located in the mighty Treme, where the sound of trumpets & the smell of sweet soul food fill the air. The house is situated on Esplanade Avenue, so it's less than a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter and the Marigny.
My home is a two story Creole Cottage built around 1840 and is featured in the book "New Orleans Architecture: Esplanade Ridge (Volume V)". It's both gorgeous (given architectural brilliance) and spacious with 13 ft. ceilings and large, open rooms. There's six (nonworking) fireplaces throughout the house and many cool architectural features like ceiling medallions, dormer windows and french doors. The kitchen is fully stocked with microwave, stove, coffeemaker, cookware & dishes, although I imagine most guests will want to spend their time eating at New Orleans many world class restaurants:). The dining room has a large table with four dining chairs and more chairs can be added for additional guests. The living rooms are filled with many places to lounge: a red velvet couch, armchairs and a leopard print fainting couch.
In terms of sleeping accommodations, the downstairs bedroom has a full sized bed with a memory foam mattress and an attached full bath (toilet plus shower). The downstairs bedroom also has French doors that open out to the amazing tropical garden in the back. There is a daybed fitted with a memory foam twin mattress in a nook near downstairs bedroom suite. Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with a king size bed and a velvet loveseat that opens to a full size bed. The master suite also has a full bathroom with a clawfoot tub and shower. A queen size air mattress with bedding & a twin size air mattress with bedding can also be provided for extra guests.
Outdoors is an amazing tropical garden filled with gardenias, hibiscus, lilies, jasmine, magnolia trees, angel trumpets and citrus trees. There are tables and several chairs for outdoor dining and relaxing.
Use of entire house with exception of upstairs closets and downstairs office space.
Guests may contact me at any time on my cell phone and I will respond as quickly as possible.
I want my guests to have a wonderful time and love the house as much as I do. Naturally, I expect my guests to act like civilized adults--i.e. not damage furniture, smoking outside only, not leave food out, keep house locked & secure, etc.
