5-Star Gem! This is truly the best place to stay on the island. Quiet, clean, private and spacious with a beautiful swimming dock and blue sea just steps away from our door! We had everything we needed and more! Our hosts went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We loved having the bikes to zip around the island on. A true Gem. We highly recommend the Sea Side S

This house was the perfect getaway choice if you are looking for peace and quiet, scenic views, and the go-slow mindset of Caye Caulker. Many of countless hours were spent enjoying the vistas from the roof top terrace, taking in the amazing island breezes. Beware if you are looking for American accommodations, this is not the place for you. The house is located on the remote side of the island with no near by shops, no A/C, and a heavy population of insects. Outside of that the house and overall vacation was amazing and the property manager Ron was very helpful and attentive.

I highly recommend this stay. If you desire the real island life a bit of freedom and quiet. Their Neighbors Don and Cindy made our stay with an epic dock and cabana. Offer Don Beer for his contribution. Having bikes to bike out a little over a mile and back was a great way to start and end our day's adventures into town. We enjoyed a run to the beach or a swim off of Dons Pier. This is Key: Buy Picaridin for the sand flies. They are on the island and in remote areas. Deep woods and essential oils don't work. Request extra sheets after four days. Between the sea, oils and bugs spray you want your rest. You can request extra water too, as you don't want to drink tap. Stay hydrated. We brought coconut oil from home and found it a life saver as well as Aloe. You have to eat at Habeneros (Darren Casson will rock you out), Paradiso and Caribian Colors Art Cafe. Sailing with Ragamuffin for your Sunset tour and reef was awesome. Getting certified with Belize Diving services is awesome. You get quality. Watch out for msg,( mono sodium glutomate) in your food or places that use tap water. If you can buy fruit on the main island and coffee to bring. They also have awesome honey. Go slow, enjoy and make new friends on your adventure.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to have you and we thank you for all your great suggestions to our future guests.

The place was super cute clean nice. you got a private dock(s). riding your bike to downtown takes about 20 mins. it's on the other side of the island. there are some pros and cons staying this far off the path. there's a lot of mosquitos when you come back from town and it's dark out. we always try to get back before dark for this reason. if it's your first time to Belize I would stay closer to town because you end up going there everyday anyways. if you want to do your own thing, this is the perfect spot.

Had a lovely time at the suite. Evenings on the dock watching the sun go down were magical. The suite was clean and well appointed. A little warm at night with only the one fan and not a lot of cross breeze from the windows but tolerable if you aim the fan at the bed. Did have some sand fly problems and figured out why they burn the coils right outside the door - keeps the flies from sneaking in... James and Rainy are the most wonderful of hosts - they were in residence in the suite upstairs and we got to spend a little time with them. The Friday night jam at the Sports Bar is not to be missed especially if Rainy is on drums :) Getting around on bicycles was good scenic exercise and hopefully offset much of the rum punch that was consumed... The 5 barrel rum, while technically a sipping rum, is da bomb and pretty cheap for the quality. We did have an issue with the sheets when we got there. I am 90% sure that the laundry soap that the sheets had been washed in gave us both hives. Things calmed down once we got a bottle of Woolite and had the laundry service do all the linens in it. We've heard stories from other folks on the island about getting rashes from freshly laundered shirts so something to think about if you suddenly get what looks like an attack of sand flies all over your body - might not actually be bugs...
Thank you Karolyn. So glad you had a "lovely time" and yes, the sunsets are magical here. Thanks for your great review. We only wish you had let us know while you were here, because we could have easily provided you with an extra fan. And, yes, we do have excellent laundry services here on the island. Great tip for anybody who is 'Hyper-allergenic'... travel with your own sheets. Sara your scuba diving buddy on the Caye says to say hi!

James and rainy's suite is a nice little place to stay despite its distance from the main town. There is no a/c, only a fan you can turn on to low or medium speed. The sand flies are everywhere on the island including our bed, but after we used baby oil on ourselves to deter them it wasn't so bad. We saw the crocodile that lives along the path to the suite twice in our one week stay. You must also watch out for the crabs that come out in the evening. Overall a pleasant place to stay that is far enough from town to have some nice R and R.

Though our water taxi was late and arrived in total darkness, taxi driver and property manager, Nick, was waiting at the dock for us with a golf cart taxi and a warm welcome. During the five-minute ride through town, he gave us loads of information, pointing out restaurants and available tours along the way. Just out of town, we came onto the unlighted jungle path, which runs close to the water along the south side of the Caye. After about 10 or so minutes on this path, we reached the house. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by James, who owns the place with his wife Rainy. They live in the upstairs portion of this two-unit house. The location of the property is beautiful and peaceful. It truly fits the definition of a ‘getaway’. The jungle path runs between the house and the sea. There is little ‘traffic’ on the path: only the occasional walker, biker or golf cart. This is an area with no utilities and so every house along the path runs on solar and has rainwater catchment. Water conservation is important here, as the house’s water supply is limited by the size of the cistern and the amount of rainfall. The downstairs suite has high ceilings, a combined kitchen/living room, a bedroom and a bath. The kitchen has all the essentials, and the bedroom has a small wardrobe with a door mirror, a couple of tables and a comfortable bed. The bathroom is basic. There’s no counter space in the bathroom, but it doesn’t feel cramped. We kept our toilet articles on one of the two tables in the bedroom. You can see the Caribbean through the bedroom and living room windows, but the view is limited. However, in less than a minute, you can walk to the dock, where the view is wildly beautiful—almost surreal in the morning when the massive cumulous clouds speckle the sky above the turquoise sea. The dock by the house is perfect for getting in and out of the water, and the water is a delight to swim and relax in. The water visibility was about 6-8 feet when we were there. James and Rainy let us use their inflatable stand-up paddleboards, which was a lot of fun and perfect for the calm water. The two-person inflatable kayak is also a blast to use. The bikes provided work well, sized for men and women, and have baskets so you can easily take a daypack or bring home goods from the market without hassle. It takes 10-20 minutes by bike to get to the center of town, depending on how fast you ride. James and Rainy were gracious and accommodating hosts. They shared lots of helpful info with us about where to eat and fun things to do, like a snorkel trip with Richard’s Adventures, which was superb and a must do! They also provide a local cell phone for you to use, which comes in very handy to call restaurants...

We are a happily married couple enjoying our 50's. We love to travel, and enjoy many sports from the snowy mountains to the sandy seashores.
