Basically, treat the place like your own - or perhaps your Mother-in-Law's ;-) While nothing here is precious, this is a beautiful custom built cabin with nice personal items and artwork and we expect people to enjoy this place quietly and with respect. No smoking of any kind in the house or on the porches. No pets, although smaller dogs are possible if we discuss it in advance and a deposit is paid. Please use the fire screen on wood stove if you leave the doors open. Do NOT leave the wood stove doors open if you leave the house, even to go outside. Any severe scratches to floors, damage to furniture, broken dishes, appliances, etc. should be reported to us so we can fix it before the next guest. IF you find something broken or otherwise in bad shape, please contact us right away and we will attempt to sort it out.
Trampoline is used at your own risk! No more than one person at a time and if you have children, you must supervise them while they are on it. Basically use your common sense.
Before departure, we assume guests will clean up sufficiently that the house can be readied with a 2-3 hour maid service (not including time to do laundry and make beds). This means that baths are cleaned up, towels set aside, kitchen counters floors are basically swept and clear of any food remnants, dishes are done, any food items taken out are put back in secured spots, compost is tossed into the field, recycling and garbage is taken away, etc. Any housecleaner time required after 3 hours will be charged at $25/hour. Please turn off lights and be sure that all doors and windows are closed and locked as instructed and that key is back where it belongs before you leave. Thanks and Enjoy.

Just the most fantastic place to stay imaginable. The pictures don't do the place justice. It is rustic, beautiful, and the property is also majestic. Lots to do in the area as well. Hard to believe it is only an hour from D.C. Bos and Liz were great hosts, everything is spelled out clearly, and they are very generous in how the house is appointed. Also, the bed is extremely comfortable. We intend to go back often if they will have us.

Our second trip to Bos and Liz's place was even better than the first which is saying something. Just a lovely spot, with gracious hosts. The house itself is so thoughtfully appointed and comfortable, and the setting is spectacular. This year we had a fire in the pit outside to cap off a perfect day and add yet another great perch (in addition to the porches and trampoline) for taking in all those views. Easy to get to, with a super quaint little trio of towns nearby and the goodies from the famous Locke Store... it really is hard to beat for a weekend getaway from DC where you're really away in mind and body both.

Bos was fantastic in providing timely and useful info to make the most of our trip. The cabin is amazing. Completely exceeded expectations and perfect for a family getaway. My kids were sad to leave! The trampoline, cool toys, and extensive books convinced them they didn't need to head out for entertainment either.

I stayed at the Log home with a few friends from college. It was a perfect setting for catching up with old friends. We spent one afternoon wine touring and the rest of the time cozied up in the home with the wood stove burning and enjoying the gorgeous setting. The house is stocked well with the hardware necessary for cooking. The home is spacious yet cozy and comfortable. Bos was very responsive to helping us out with some confusion about getting into the house (he plans to update the instructions to make it more clear) and provided some great tips with things to do in the area. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat.

This place was simply the perfect haven for a little countryside get-away. My husband and I loved waking up to the sunrise coming up over the Blue Ridge mountains, drinking our morning coffee on the porch while enjoying the breathtaking views, spending our days exploring the neighboring towns/vineyards and then coming back to have a bonfire while the sun set. I mean, does it get any better than this? Liz & Bos' place is just perfect. We'd like to steal their floorplan for our vacation home someday:) The home is set way back off the road in the middle of a cornfield and no neighbors are in sight. The description is spot on and the place just makes you relax. We took full advantage of the trampoline, the croquet set, and took their advice on restaurants and places to visit. All were perfect. I just wish I brought my hammock with - next time! We cannot thank them both enough for an amazing and relaxing stay. We would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

The perfect log cabin getaway with a rustic feel, beautiful design/decoration and modern convenience. Even with the glowing reviews our expectations were exceeded and we are already making plans to return. Bos and Liz were helpful leading up to and through the visit (including helping me find the pilot light to the stove - behind the broiler drawer on the bottom right). A constant rain that continued throughout the weekend ruined our plans for hiking, but once we lit the wood stove in the living room we didn't want to leave. The house was an absolute treat - larger than expected yet cozy and homely. The kitchen is very well equipped and perfect for heavy duty cooking. It was a perfect weekend getaway.

Bos' place is a really terrific spot for a getaway. The cabin itself is lovely. Very thoughtfully appointed, all the stuff you need but everything put together in a really tasteful, clearly high quality way that feels both lived in by real people but with the fit/finish of a higher end place. Such a nice balance of cozy/traditional and handsome/design centric with tons of beautiful wood finishes and everything with a deeply solid feel to it. The setting is also dynamite. Beautiful views, the feeling you're all to yourself, a perfect front porch with constant breeze and a trampoline to please old and young. Short hop to Millwood and the great Locke Store for food delights of every stripe. And driving pretty much anywhere in these parts means great view after great view. We had grand designs for all sorts of activities but the house and setting were so welcoming we ended up just hanging out, enjoying the great getaway Bos has put together.
