The flat is a beautiful unit with spectacular views of Seattle skyline. Comfortable and useful layout with hardwood floors in a generously lid up spot. It's a corner unit placed on the 7th floor, so it has extra windows to enjoy the views of a secure and handsome neighborhood with access to internet.
The apartment is a beautiful unit with spectacular views of the city located on 5th avenue in a charming neighborhood where some of the best restaurants are found. Well preserved hardwood floors, the flat is a corner unit of a well restored historic interior with lines of windows and wall space with artwork from Afghanistan, including a cozy dining room which I also use as a library room with books ranging from travel, french and international literature to photojournalism. The flat offers the perfect spot to enjoy the tree-lined streets of Belltown - one of Seattle's hippest neighborhoods, and plenty of light; an ideal space to write, work or simply relax with a glass of wine.
The apartment is a well crafted home utilizing new insulated windows to obtain efficient temperature control; it's facing southeast by northwest with a peek-a-boo view of the Space Needle visible only by opening one of the windows. You'll have plenty of shelving and hangers in one of the largest walk-in closet to put your things. I keep blankets, fresh bed sheets and pillows clean. You will also find an iron and a hair dryer for your convenience.
The bed is a high quality full size memory foam mattress that can fit two people very easily. Built on a solid wooden frame, it can be moved and re-positioned in proximity to walls or windows, depending on your preferences. The bathroom is kept meticulously clean with fresh towels, soap, shampoo, skin lotions, etc...
A separated kitchen fully equipped with new appliances and utensils including a dish washer is located past the bathroom to your right through the hall, and through the library room. Cook your favorite meals with natural produce available (only 5 blocks away at the famous Pike Place Market) or at a Wholefood same distance down on Blanchard St. In the cupboard, you will find plates, cups/glasses and silverware, including pot, pan and ceramic oven cookware. I am a tea drinker, so you will find a variety of teas and a juicer. The absence of coffee is well compensated with a great variety of coffee shops just around the corner.
The whole apartment is for you to use. One of the closet will remain locked where I keep my personal life while you enjoy the use of all parts of the flat including the largest walking closet. The flat is a well furnished unit. I have seen guests coming with their own bed sheets and seriously, your bed will be prepared with clean linens that I prepare personally. The building is secure and you will have the keys to enter the building. I have great neighbors who tend to be discreet. If some music is heard from a distant apartment, especially in the summer, that would be exceptional.
On top of hospitality, I can also offer a real Seattle insight into hot spots to go visit, places to eat, and things to see outside of the normal tourist attractions. Come visit Seattle anytime, any seasons and enjoy a true city experience! Fine restaurants are just a walk away. Tom Douglas is the famous Chef in Seattle and three of his restaurants are located near my flat so I can guide you there. I have a great knowledge of Seattle history and its museums. The famous Gold rush of 1897 has once shaped Seattle wealth and drama, leading to the construction of historical buildings with iconic details few would notice.
The flat is equipped with internet. Only one device is allowed on my membership and the access is exclusively through the use of a MAC Laptop I set up for your convenience.
1. Use the laptop with care and no access to inappropriate websites please while access to the internet. Delete your history after use.
2. No check-in later than 9pm.
3. Smoking is NOT allowed in the flat.
4. The apartment needs to stay clean for other occupants and myself, so please clean after yourself, and make sure that the place is left as good as when you came in. Take away your garbage.
5. Keep your shoes near the entry. We are trying to keep the hardwood floor beautiful.
6. Do not roll your suitcase across the wooden floor.
I am a photojournalist and I am very passionate with what I do. You will quickly notice my work from Afghanistan all over the apartment. I have travelled to Afghanistan and Pakistan for photo assignments through out the years and my work can be viewed at deltageographic. Two books that have been influential to my life and my choices of destinations: Terre Des Hommes from Saint Exupery, and Tintin in Tibet. And yes, I love comic books and especially Tintin. Travels bring new experiences and reinforce personal roots. I am from the south of France along the Mediterranean coast. So, I cook a lot of french dishes while listening to music from the far places of Central Asia or Africa. You should try the music from Mali such as Boubacar.
I have often tasted the unique sense of hospitality that is the signature of the Afghan people. In remote mountainous regions of central Afghanistan and Pakistan, I was brought to stay many nights with families who made the best of my stay with simplicity and the riches of values in humanity. That's what I want to give back to whoever stay in my home. I have chosen to live here because of the wooden floor, and the source of natural light. Sometimes I just lay on the floor and I feel strongly connected to my own nature to value quality.
