The only aspect of our stay that was more pleasant than this absolutely wonderful apartment was Kurt, himself. He was there to greet my family and I after a late night flight from San Francisco and provided us with all the immediate refreshments we could have wished for, includin…

Not only is Kurt’s place full of character, the neighborhood is convenient for touring, pet friendly and close to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. (We needed a place close to the hospital since my MIL was there.)

Kurt couldn't have been a more gracious and hospitable host. His apartment is exactly as described and in a nice quiet neighborhood. The nearest subway stop was closed for renovation while we were there, but the next closest ones were still a short walk away. I only wish I had mo…

Kurt’s place is incredibly unique. The entire vibe is like going back in time, from the collection of literature surrounding you to the turntable and jazz records. My colleague and I found ourselves just hanging out listening to music each evening. Kurt was a great host and we…

This place has a lot of charm, in the summer, the garden is probably a wonderful place to relax. It was easy to get in; at all time the host was fast to reply to our requests. The apartment is located far from downtown Manhattan (30-40 minutes metro ride) the closest metro stat…

Dear Lorraine, It grieves me you'd be among the 13 percent of our clientele the past 7 years to give us less than a five star review. I've worried about taking parties of more than 4. I'm well aware the flat is perhaps ideal for 4, after which there are trade offs toward affordability. You are quite right that the apartment during garden season is essentially twice as large and space is less of an issue. But as to accuracy, it's listed clearly and more than once as a 2 bedroom apartment and describes "a Garden/Sitting room with a trundle/day bed (Charles Rogers), a large bedroom with a full-sized bed that once passed for George Washingon's, and a second larger bedroom with an opulent queen size 19th century French brass bed (see floor plan)." There is a floor plan so there's no ambiguity. As there is a map showing the apartment's exact location. As for public transportation, I can't be held responsible for it. The MTA announced our metro station would close on April 13th, after you left, then closed it two days earlier. A 3 minute walk, the next nearest station will be a 6 minute walk for the next 6 months, which is addendum to our listing now that it's pertinent. It shouldn't have been during your stay. What does gravely concern me is linens with a strong odor. I personally clean the apartment and do my best to keep it as near perfectly clean as anyone can in a 130 year old home. The linens go out to a professional laundry I've never had any difficulty with before but will be monitoring more closely and certainly appreciate your input on this. I haven't lately slept down there. As to the price, expect to be paying more in Manhattan in coming days as property values are skyrocketing. We have been booked 85% of the past 9 months at higher prices than the mid-winter low you enjoyed. Or perhaps didn't. I'm so sorry. All amities,

We were left at the last minute without our originally booked airbnb. They took care of us and all at the last minute. But much to our surprise, the place we found was an absolute gift! Kurts home is a unique but quintessential New York space, full of hospitality, warmth and g…
