The space was renovated in 2014, but still has the charm of an 1889 Victorian. The room has the high ceiling and victorian-era windows that you'd expect, but we have an updated private bathroom, shared kitchen and common area. Best of both worlds.
This is a family oriented neighborhood, literally all our neighbors have school aged children, so quite time is usually by 10pm, 7 days a week. My wife and I actually trying to start a family ourselves so we're trying to avoid any stressful or disruptive situations.
That being said, the living situation isn't good for those who want to host gatherings, parties, or want to do any excessive drinking. There is absolutely no smoking/vaping, as well as any recreational drugs allowed.
Even though we have pets downstairs, we do not allow pets because of the additional wear and tear that we experience ourselves. Since we've been long-time pet owners, it's also pretty easy for us to tell when pets have been around.
We're also not a hunting cabin, so please no weapons of any type.
Please try to keep the common area clean as a courtesy to our long-term tenant, Mel. We've found Mel cleaning our guests dishes before, with no complaints, but we do not want her to have to do things like that. Please clean your dishes as you go or load the dishwasher. That being said, for new Airbnb users, please know that we do not provide any house keeping of any kind.
Other than groceries in the refrigerator and dry goods in designated cupboards, we do not provide storage and do not allow items to be stored in the common area and there is very limited storage available in the room itself. The room is fully furnished and so we cannot allow there to be any fire hazards due to guests storing too many items.
Please do not park in the driveway unless it's for loading and unloading. Unfortunately, we've had guests who thought they were only going to be "five minutes," but ended up blocking the driveway for an hour. It's one of those weird instances when someone actually parks in the driveway is when it's the worst time to have done it. Generally speaking, unless it's for loading and unloading, please park on the street.
Finally, please note that the maximum # of guests is 2 people and no one can sleep in the common area/living room and the second guest is an additional $10/night. For example, if you book for only 1 guest during a stay, then we do require that you change your reservation for the applicable nights to 2 guests. Reason being is that we've had approved additional guests and I can assure you that the utilities bills skyrocket. In one case, by 4X.
I have a Bachelors from UC Berkeley in Business Administration and Masters in Finance from London Business School and threw it all away! Hahaha. My wife and I have actually been involved in fashion since 2008, when we met in London. Currently, we design and handcraft leather goods and other fashion items right from our workspace downstairs. I've switched from the business world to the art world since I was a college student, but for the time being i'm sticking with art.
I tend to get along with most people, even horrible people. Hahaha. Last year, I drove for Lyft and Uber for about 1,500 trips and had almost a perfect rating, so I guess I'm pretty decent at meeting new people and making them feel comfortable.
I feel like anything I write about my likes will sound too cliche so I'm not going to do it, but I'm sure we'll have something in common.
