Mrs. Sunny we have notified your husband through airbnb message well in advance about the 75% day charge for the final day as you were checking out late in the evening. This is because we cannot sell the apartment on this day to any other . This was agreed before booking the apartment. Therefore, this should not come as a surprise. If you had declined the booking at this point then this issue would have not cropped up at all.
With regard to the Wi Fi, Ceiling fan (in one bed room), and the hot water was due to two damage breakers because of heavy lighting. Service failures such as this happen due to uncontrollable elements of nature. However, we offered our services to rectify this matter immediately; nevertheless, the client postponed the repair as they wanted to rest after a long flight. After obtaining your permission for a time and upon arrival our technicians identified the faulty breakers. However, at that time the shops were closed and we could not replace the breakers on the same day. Subsequently since the internet was important, we offered Mr. Sunny an alternative solution by offering him an internet dongle, which he could use until such time the router was repaired. Subsequently you sent us a message to call over in the morning. Upon arrival in the morning all repairs were completed within a short period of time. We replaced the breakers, the fan and the internet router, and got the hot water running. We apologise for this as breakers failing due to heavy lighting are beyond our control.
Also Mrs. Sunny you may recall I offered my services and went out of my way to take you and your husband in my personal vehicle to the nearest super market to buy your daily needs (as extra measure of customer service) and offered to take you back to the apartment as it was raining, but your husband was most obliging and said both of you are fine and will walk back. These services are provided free, with a view of making life easy for our clients.
Further, we have informed your husband via Airbnb massage before your arrival about cap on the electricity, and there is an additional charge beyond this cap, since three air-conditioners and hot water is a killer on the electricity bill, and the pricing of the apartment is not sufficient carry this cost. Further the terms and conditions signed upon arrival clearly stated this and was agreed by your husband and signed on upon arrival. I personally explained this clause and the meter reading was mentioned therein, further, the location of the meter is even stated for your inspection.
Mrs. Sunny, a hotel with similar facilities and a 180 degree view of the Indian Ocean would cost much more a day (with only one air condition). Our two room apartment is with three air conditioners. Please note all apartment rentals in this building charge electricity separately, however, we have given a certain amount of units free to better satisfy our clients. This is fair by the client because clients pay only for their usage and nothing more. If we include Electricity in the price and increase the rent its not fair for the guests who does not use much Electricity.
Sadly Mrs. Sunny you have been misled by your friend, I am sure she was referring to a one room house with no air-conditioning or hot water and no electrical equipment.. Sri Lanka’s electricity bills are high, but provide a continuous supply around the clock, and the rate increases with different slabs of usage.
