Private, newly renovated cabin, just one mile from Exit 24 of the Adirondack Northway (3 hours from NYC, 1 hour from Albany, 30 minutes north of Lake George, 15 minutes west of Bolton Landing). 150 feet on the Schroon River across the road.
The cabin is completely private, located on more than one acre of land just minutes from Exit 24 of I-87 North (about 70 miles north of Albany, NY). Across the street from the driveway is private access to 150 feet along the lovely Schroon River, excellent for swimming, fishing, canoeing or kayaking. There is a screened-in porch in the backyard that overlooks a firepit, and lovely privacy from the road due to the sloped driveway and treeline.
My wife and I have been coming to this area for more than a decade to fish and hike. We jumped at the chance to buy this cabin when it came up for sale a few years ago. It was owned by a wonderful woman who swam in the river every morning in the summer. Her children and grandchildren have expressed to us their fond memories of family gatherings here.
We lovingly restored the cabin, completely renovating the interior by installing new floors and walls. There is one bedroom with a queen size bed and another bedroom with bunk beds. We have kept the cabin low-tech. Your cell phone will work and there is a TV with lots of DVDs. There is also a bookshelf CD player and speakers. There is a landline and Wi-FI as well.
The cabin has central air, which is rarely needed, due to cross-ventilation from the many windows as well as very good insulation. There is electric baseboard heat as well as a ceiling fan with a heater that works terrifically well if you get a bit chilly at night. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, coffee maker, toaster oven, utensils and cookware, and there is a refrigerator located in a back room adjacent to the kitchen. There is also a lovely little front porch seating area.
Guests will have access to the entire house including garage.
I am very knowledgeable about the area and I make myself available to inquiries from guests before, during and after their arrival. I also call the cabin on the day of their arrival in order to make sure everyone is comfortable.
We extend a special offer of one night free to any guest who rents the cabin for 7 days, so you will only pay for 6 days. The rate of $125 per night is based on occupancy by up to 2 adults and up to 2 of their children under 18 years of age.
We operate this cabin and the two others we own under the principle that we want to provide families with an affordable, low-tech vacation. One way we keep our prices down is to ask folks to bring their own sheets and towels, but if this is an inconvenience for you please let us know. We also keep down the cost by asking our guests to leave the cabin in the same condition as it was found upon arrival. We clean the cabin after every stay; we do not have to hire an outside cleaning service if our guests have left the cabin in good shape and this helps us to keep down the cost of the rental. We also ask our guests to please conserve energy where possible, including turning down the heat or turning off the central air when not at the cabin.
Smoking is not allowed in the cabin, or on the front porch or in the screen room. We have a dog and will consider your dog as a guest on a case-by-case basis. Pets are never allowed on the furniture or beds.
