We spent a warm and sunny last week of October in this wonderful house. It is obviously a beloved house used by its owner, it is well taken care of and clean. We very much appreciated the feeling of not being in a investment holiday home and there was nothing that we lacked in equipment. The garden is magnificent with its olivehain, pommegranate trees and citrus ( upon our leave the Mezzapelle family brought us two lovely bottles of the freshly pressed olive oil of this years harvest!) The house sets back in the garden and is thus separated from the quite busy street, leading in toward Marsala old town. along the street side of the garden runs a a wall through which you enter through a large Irongate. Only some steps down the street is a large supermarket which was great for us with small kids, not always needing to get in the car for every small necessity. The garden was also perfect for kids (ours are age 3, 6, 8) and there were no danger such us leaving garden and running out in the street and no high ledges or terraces with unsafe railings. Staying at this location you need to rent a car to be able to fully enjoy the area. We made daily excursions with car both to the south coast, Selinunte and Mazara del Vallo and to the north and the temples of Seggesta, the medival town of Erice, the beach of Castellammare del Golfo and Palermo. It felt pretty much like living in the middle and most rides took between 40 min and an hour. We very much appreciated the hospitality and generosity of our hosts. We received great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. And what really saved us arriving late at night after hours with 3 hungry children , was the lovely buffet of sicilian specialities that signora Mezzapelle had prepared and had waiting warm upon our arrival. Thanks again for that!
