This is a large, well-lit basement room with a queen size sofa bed with a mattress topper. A queen size air bed is available for more tan 2 guests (it tends to feel colder in winter). The room includes a separate bathroom with a newly installed shower and toilet. Microwave, 2 space heaters and a fan. We provide tea, instant coffee, cream and some basic snacks (see photos). The sound insulation in the house is poor, so keep that in mind. We have a baby on the other floor. He is quiet but still...
The room is very well lit during the day, it is spacious and can fit two queen sized beds. It includes a separate closet and a separate bathroom with a shower that we recently installed. The basement is located directly beneath the living room and sound travels both ways, so we try to be quiet when others are here and expect the same from our guests (particularly at night and in the evening). We have a small baby who is generally calm and quiet, but we will only accept reservations from people who can respect our situation and are ok with some potential baby noise. That said, with the dehumidifier on in the room you can't really here anything from upstairs.
The house is situated in one of the nicest and quietest neighborhoods of State College. It is located 10 minutes away from campus and downtown (15-25 minutes by bus depending on the route).
Please note: this is one of our two listings, which means there might be someone else staying in the house at the same time.
Guests are free to use the microwave in your room, the fridge and kettle in the kitchen, the living room and the deck. We provide tea, coffee, and oatmeal. Please let us know in advance if you plan to do any cooking. We provide you with plates, mugs, silverware.
There will be some interactions with us (since you will be staying at our home) and we like to talk and get to know our guests and are always ready to help. Since the basement is somewhat separate from the rest of the house there is some additional privacy.
We now have a baby, so, please, be considerate. And make sure you are ok with some baby noise (that is a rare occasion, but things can happen).
We have a very cute dog, but he will probably bark at you when you arrive and every time he sees you. If you ignore his barking he will stop.
We do not accept reservations from large groups of young people (sport teams, a cappella groups, etc.)
We provide a clean and quiet environment and expect guests to keep it that way. Unfortunately, the walls are thin and sound travels easily. We expect you to avoid making noise so as not to disturb us or other guests. For the same reason we ask our guests not to return in the middle of the night. There is no way to do it without waking the dog and thus the whole house. Thank you for the understanding on this matter.
Please take your shoes off and leave them by the door.
No parties or guests.
Make sure you turn off the lights lights when you leave and dry the towels on the racks and hooks provided
If you need anything please ask us about it and we will do our best to help you out.
If you need early check-in, please let us know in advance.
