This fully furnished vacation home on our ranch is open to guests passing through or needing longer accommodations. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast. This room has a double bed and shared bath. Perfect spot to stop between Glacier and Yellowstone parks.
When you stay at our ranch, you're home. Your room has a very comfortable bed and you share a bathroom with shower with another roon. You have full use of a furnished kitchen and living room with pool table, free wifi, hot tub on the deck. The ranch is surrounded by national forest and is near a wilderness area. You will enjoy watching ponies and many species of wildlife. You may also spot trout in the creek that flows near the home. It's old-fashioned Montana, yet the city of Missoula with restaurants and many activities is only 20 minutes away. We just installed a geothermal heating/cooling system which makes this large home very cozy on winter days and the hot summer days. Special treat in winter is to crosscountry ski from the home into the meadows. In the summer many hiking opportunities.
Forest trails to hike or ski. Proximity to Flathead Lake, the National Bison Range, Native American art gallery and café in Arlee. Winter activities include skiing: 6 ski resorts are within easy distance, with Snowbowl only 30 minutes away. October offers the best of Indian summer days, with golden aspens everywhere. Several nearby streams and rivers offer blue ribbon trout fishing.
As much or as little as you want. We are available to help schedule activities, and to take guests on special hikes.
This small valley surrounded by public land offers the opportunity to watch for wildlife, raptors and other birds. The ranch is visited by deer, elk, bears, wild turkeys, cougars, and many species of birds... It's a privilege to observe nature.
Guests renting a bedroom/suite have the use of common areas, kitchen, living room, spa. We expect guests to leave the kitchen clean after they have used it, and we ask that they leave shoes by the front door. No smoking in the house, and no pets allowed.
When I retired from a career in journalism that took me all over the world, I thought it was time to come back to my first love -- the ranch I had bought in Montana many years ago. I like to share the beauty of the mountains which are around Cougar Ranch: the Mission peaks, the Rattlesnake wilderness, the streams and the lakes. And it's fun to share some gourmet recipes after a hike or a day of paddling down a river.
