We visited Mary Lo's house during September 2012. The house was perfect for the five of us, with everything you can ask for!
We (or rather I) had made a bad research, since I thought we would be able to snorcle and bathe in the close-by sea. However, the sea is not for snorcling, because of it's brown appearance. For diving, you take a boat out away from the shore.
Our time in Miri was memorable anyway, much because of the excellent help from Mary's brother Marcus and the rest of the family, that helped us with anything we needed. The help was more than we could ever expect, so thanks a lot for that!! Marcus and his father even took one of us out for fishing, with a venomous sting as a memory from that;-)! It turned out well, though!
We also visited both Lambir Waterfalls, and Niah Caves, which are a must if you get here. There are a lot of single or multi day trips available, for instance Brunei and Mulu National Park, Kuching and more.
All in all, our visit in Miri was fantastic, and I can very much recommend it. The house and especially the hosts are great and extremely helpful!
