This is a real find, so close to the Museum Hill, the Plaza, Trader Joe's, Santa Fe Photo Workshops, skiing at the Ski Santa Fe basin 18 miles away, and the hikes out the front door that take you up to Museum Hill (home of the International Folk Art Fair) ... or beyond…A restful adobe home, decorated in the Southwestern/Mexican style with lots of folk art, thick walls, very quiet. Beautiful enclosed patio, birds singing and drinking at Mexican fountain. Sit peacefully undercover on the portal and read and enjoy our lovely summer or fall weather. This is ideal for the single traveler only, the antique double bed only sleeps one comfortably. Safe area to store ski equipment near on location parking. ( I speak fluent Spanish.)
The totally private Bedroom, Bathroom, and TV room/Library are completely yours. Breakfast is available in the kitchen between 7-8 am (or earlier if needed, please advise), freshly made coffee or teas are available, plus fresh fruit, delicious muffins (gluten-free) or bagels. I am usually up and around at that hour but will leave the coffee maker ready to just push "ON," should you get up earlier. A rental car is necessary in most of Santa Fe, we do have private free parking here. The rest of the home is private. Access through the front door...I will greet you when you arrive….and show you around and try to make you feel at home. …free access to shared to portal, back gardens (flower and vegetable gardens). WiFi code available when you arrive. Not set up for guest access to cooking own meals.
I am happy to answer, hopefully, all your questions about the area. There is also a lot of reference material -- books, pamphlets, hikes -- in the bedroom. I work at home and so am usually available during the day. I and am happy to answer questions, or find the answer! I offer organic gluten-free breakfast items -- coffee, granola, yogurt, fruit, etc. There is one resident dog, a very friendly English Yellow Lab...not a mean bone in his body.
Lots of art books here in the library, folk art to view in the Guest Suite and the home in general. Please make yourself at home in the large kitchen for breakfast. There is an island with stools for your morning meal….
We've had short, sometimes driving rain, during July/August monsoon season, it only lasts a few minutes but it can really come down. Please bring a light raincoat or umbrella, just to be on the safe side. Cold in winter, best to have a hat, gloves, scarf and even snow boots if snow has fallen.
This is a no-smoking home, no-illegal drugs, a very quiet safe place, especially for single women to feel comfortable staying in. There is a door that separates the guest area from the rest of the house, very private. Your have your own sitting area on the portal outside your bedroon. If you are here for a week's stay, please be mindful of business calls, and respect noise levels of the common areas which are the portal, the kitchen, and the dining room. Living room is private. This is a scent free-home. You are most welcome to make coffee, tea any time of day, and store a few perishables in the fridge. I also will make a hearty, organic breakfast if desired! Please let me know in advance of needs such as cream or milk for coffee, vegetarian, allergies, etc. Thank you!
I am a cultural photographer and author, specializing in artisans, Latin America and...cookbooks….I was a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Latin America. I spent a lot of time working with the International Folk Art Museum and the International Folk Art Fair. I'm located very near the Santa Fe Workshops and Museum Hill. I'm interested in food issues and good, healthy, tasty food from my organic garden! Organic breakfast! I really love my home and my folk art that I've purchased on my travels, and hope you will too. Originally from Portland and Seattle, I've made Santa Fe my home now for the last 10 years and find it to be a completely satisfying experience all the way around.
