Our characterful Victorian home is located in a quiet residential street on the edge of Dalston, one of London's most interesting areas. It's a great neighbourhood to be based in for a visit to London with numerous transport links into the centre of London. The room is light and spacious with it's own ensuite. We have a great knowlege of London and can offer lots of advice on where to go and what to do, to help you get the most from your stay.
The house is in a quiet, residential street just off the main shopping areas of Dalston and Stoke Newington. It is well served by transport systems (for details see below). We offer a large modern, light and airy oak floored loft bedroom (10 sq. meters) with your own private en-suite shower and toilet facilities (4.5 sq. meters ).
The room is furnished with a single/double bed, comfortable armchair, large built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers, Freeview TV, DVD and Wi-Fi internet (included). There is also a hair dryer and European power adapters. You are provided with fine cotton bed linen, fresh towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and our lovely garden. A light breakfast which you can serve yourself (coffee, tea, juice, bread, a selection of butter/jams/marmalade/ cereals and yoghurt) is included.
We have lots of London and local guide books as well as a wealth of knowledge on London and the local area. If you are a sports fan we are very near Premiership football grounds and the former Olympic arena in Queen Elizabeth Park.
We respect the environment, generate solar power and recycle as far as possible.
Check-in time is normally from 6pm and check out time by 10am but sometimes we can be flexible, dependent on our schedules (as we both work during the day and may have guests departing the day you arrive). We will try our best to accommodate your arrival time.
We will be happy to help you find your way around and can give you tips on where to eat, what to see, how to have a 'local' experience of London and it's many wonderful opportunities.
Guests share the kitchen and garden with us. They have their own private room and bathroom at the top of the house.
We are busy people but are usually around. We like meeting people and are always willing to suggest the more unusual places to visit and things to do; especially locally.
Please note there is limited pay and display street parking. A local authority car park is nearby (approx £7.20 per day).
Passports / IDs must be shown on arrival. Slippers/house shoes to be worn within the house. Please keep communal areas clean and tidy (i.e left as you found it). No smoking or pets. Guests may use the garden. We want you to enjoy your stay so please tell us if something is not ok or provided we can only act on this if you tell us.
My husband and I are outgoing, with a wide variety of interests including travel, walking in the countryside, music, art and theatre. I work with young adults in the East End of London and enjoy the diversity of life in our local area. We are both active in volunteering with local community groups and spend much of our time working on an historical narrowboat.
