This was my first time using airbnb, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was visiting Boston for a professional conference and scheduled a last minute stay after my original housing plans fell through. Steve was a great host! He personally greeted me when I arrived and made me feel very welcomed. My three nights at Steve's house cost less than one night in a hotel down by the convention center - bonus! The place is in close walking distance to the Fields Crossing stop on the T, along with lots of local restaurants. I tried fresh spring rolls at Pho So 1 Boston my first night and liked them so much I went back the next day. I also enjoyed the home.stead bakery and cafe; stopped there in the morning and picked up breakfast to eat on the train. The neighborhood was fairly quiet, and the window fan and window AC created white noise to cover anything else. I was concerned about having access to either bathroom in the morning, but that ended up being a non-issue. I rarely saw anyone else during my time there. The bedroom has a full length mirror, so getting ready in the morning was a breeze and kept me from hogging the bathroom. My time was spent mostly at the convention center, so I didn't have an opportunity to spend much time at the house in the common spaces. Would highly recommend!
This was the perfect stop-off for a visit to Boston. Steve's place is right near a T, he was really, really helpful with helping us find things and making sure we felt right at home. We got there a bit early and he accommodated us, even giving us a choice between a different room and our original if we wanted it since it was available. Steve IS doing some renovations on the property, so you MAY encounter some elements of that (like a sander in the corner of a common area - things like that) but our room and accommodations exceeded our expectations. We had a room upstairs with a queen canopy bed and a futon for our son. The sheets were really soft and the bed was comfy - great night's sleep. He'd JUST taken the AC out since it had been cool, but immediately offered to put it right back in for us (there were two window fans) if we wanted - but it wasn't necessary, room was very comfortable. Large room, decent TV and it locked. You can tell Steve is going through the home kind of room by room to make it simply stunning and I can't wait to come back. Gorgeous shower upstairs too. Each AirBNB place has its own personality for certain. This felt like "going to stay with our old friend Steve" while also meeting his friends from out of town. We had full communal use of the house (kitchen, etc.) and loved meeting the other guests from France - they even made my son breakfast :), super fast wifi, and Steve made us coffee in the morning. Fridge had snacks and beer if we wanted it (if we were big drinkers we probably could have drank our entire rental in value of what was available to us!). In general, the "vibe" of Steve's place is to relax, feel at home, etc. A lot of places don't have a lot of interaction with other guests, and depending on who they are, this will probably be the opposite - but you have plenty of space and privacy if you want it. It was incredibly convenient to go into Boston so I don't think I'm likely to stay in the city again - probably just come back here.
It's a quiet, relaxing, and a comfortable place. Best for people who want to enjoy a soft and deep sleep. The host is also enthusiastic and gave me a warm welcome! The only thing I might complain is that there was no desk or chair; therefore I had to use my laptop on the bed. But everything else is fine!
