This is a family owned property with pets; two dogs Vic and Bianca, 1 cat Pepper, and one goat Shirley all live on the property and cared for by the staff. If you don't like animals this is not the place for you.
This home is a rare treat for anyone wanting to experience a closer look at local life in Bali and to feel truly at home away from home. Immerse yourself in the nature that surrounds my property. Guests enjoy a quiet and very private stay in a traditional Balinese farming village. You can watch the daily routines of the local farmers as they pass by, hear the neighbor's cow mooing, watch ducks grazing in the rice fields, and take long gorgeous walks into the serenity and emerald green magic of surrounding rice fields. The 3 bedroom country home, sits on a large, lush, secluded garden property (35are - 1/3 of a hectare) facing pristine green rice fields. A feeling of "home" prevails - pets and staff who have become members of our extended family also become part of yours.
The Main House
The 3 Bedroom Country Home is furnished with Javanese antiques and sleeps 4-5 comfortably. It has a large outdoor veranda surrounded by 2 koi ponds where you will spend most of your time. There is a large inside living room, a separate fully equipped Western kitchen with oven and laundry. The open-air bathroom includes a large terazo hot water bathtub and separate shower. All 3 bedrooms on the second floor open out onto gorgeous views of rice fields and gardens, two with double size antique Maduranese teak wood beds. The third bedroom has one single bed and a single size loft style bed - great for kids. The third floor offers a comfortable space with more amazing views to be used as a children's playroom, or to read, nap, and do yoga. It can also be used as a 4th bedroom. The house is equipped with wireless high speed internet and has hardwood floors on the second and third floors. Woven bamboo walls throughout the second and third floors keep the house amazingly cool both day and night.
If you enjoy eating down home Balinese cooking while sitting in the rice fields there are several nice, locally owned warungs (cafes) and restaurants within 2-5min walking distance.
You will need some sort of transportation to get back and forth from town. I am happy to organize either a rental car or motorbike or a car with driver for the duration of your stay.
This unusual property is staffed with the family’s housekeeper Ketut, who provides house cleaning and laundry services and a gardener who takes care of the extensive gardens and the animals.
I am, at times, living on the property but only know exact dates about 2 months in advance.
There are a few important rules guests need to abide by;
- front gate must be closed and locked at all times - no acceptions.
- wet or damp towels should never be draped on wood furniture
- property pets are not allowed in the house
- please close all doors and windows before going out
- Bali rice fields do accomodate rats. Leaving food out in the kitchen will attract them in therefore all food scraps must be thrown in the compost bin in the back kitchen so the staff can throw it out at the end of the day. -
All other food must be kept in containers or in the fridge
- dirty dishes should NEVER be kept in the sink as this too will attract nasties.
- if your stay is during the rainy season please lower the blinds to protect furniture in case of rain while you are out.
