South London - south of the River - Zone 2
I am offering a double room with the use of a bathroom in my home which is conveniently located for Central London and the West End.
A simple breakfast is included and other meals may also be offered but at extra cost. Please do not assume that all meals are included or that cooked breakfasts are a given.
My guests are more than welcome to join me in the living room in the evenings. My aim is that my guests should feel 'at home' so the use of the piano and garden (Summer only) is welcomed.
Feel free to ask about Wholistic Therapies (services offered by a fully qualified health practitioner/acupuncturist - Member of the British Acupuncture Council). This is at extra cost.
We are located three stops (less than 15 minutes) away from London Bridge Station and less than 20 minutes away from Victoria Station by overland train. A new overland route opened in Dec. 2012 opening up east and west London. The house is situated three minutes away from the train station itself and opposite a Bus Station with buses leaving for all parts of London and beyond.
We are in a residential street just off the main high street which offers basic shopping amenities for the local community. This is a very colourful, vibrant, ethnically diverse neighbourhood in South East London so be sure to read up on the area and decide whether or not you want to be south of the river & are comfortable staying in this part of London before you book. This area is home to many artists and writers.
We are close to Peckham Rye Park, Nunhead Cemetery & the trendy Bellendon Road area. One can take a short bus ride to fashionable East Dulwich and Camberwell.
Frank's trendy roof top bar is worth a visit in the summer and the younger crowd enjoy Bar Story.
Bellendon Road is fun to visit and is within walking distance. There are a few good pubs & cafes that have appeared that has made staying local more appealing. ;-)
We are particularly proud of the small family run, highly acclaimed local South Indian Restaurant which is located a few blocks away and serves the best Keralan food in London (Diner's Choice 2010). It has become so popular that booking well in advance all year around has become essential. :-)
Be sure to visit the Victoria Inn the Montpellier, and the Petitou to eat. New bars such as the Peckham Springs and the Café/ Bar in the Bussey Building guarantee a fun time.
This is not a hotel, or a 'flat/house' sharing arrangement. You are guest in my home in what i understand to be the true spirit of Airbnb so it is appreciated when guests say hello when they arrive home in the evenings and announce that they are off in the mornings.
Regrettably Emily-dog has passed away which brings great sorrow but luckily, the neighbours cat has taken up visiting us on a regular basis. He seems to love the idea of house guests! He can be found hanging out in any of Emmy's favourite spots. ^..^ .
Bear in mind that this house was built in the Victorian era and still has many of the original features. If you are looking for modern, this is not the place for you.
I do not allow personal use of the washing machine - there are laundromats in the area.
There is no cooking allowed in my kitchen.
Most of my guests have become dear friends and we have all been known to cook together which is a different concept altogether but this is by invitation only and not to be assumed. Many of my guests who now live in the UK come to visit.
Most guests have mobile phones so the use of the telephone is NOT permitted except in exceptional circumstances and then must be reimbursed immediately.
I am British but was born in South America. I have lived in many countries but am now back in the UK. I have been back for about 6 years now. I am an acupuncturist. I speak Spanish and get by in French. I love people and stories ...
