Undiscovered upstate New York hamlet of surprising beauty every single month of the year.
"Live each season as it passes; breath the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each."
— Henry David Thoreau
We love this house. If you like character, infinite charm, and an untouched small town in the mountains with nothing but a post officee and wonderful walks, near the town of Windham (food people movies, mountains) you will be as happy here as we are. Quiet, perfect hiking, the absolute best place on earth to read a book, listen to music or have the conversation you've been waiting for years to have. It's one of those most perfect places on earth. We have been living next door for summers and weekends for 25 years, and every month is entirely surprising. The area is full of beauty and history, and it's possible to spend a perfect weekend just sitting outside, walking through the hills, or cooking a meal and sharing a bottle of wine.
Guests can wander through our 30 acres surrounded by wide skies and New York mountains
We live next door and hope you'll join us for a glass of wine
There are hiking trails, creeks, plenty of books, and a red picnic table.
Our hope is that you treat our house as though it were yours. And that you enjoy yourselves.
Nearly 30 years ago (!!!) a group of friends drove through village after village looking for a place that looked and felt right. Not perfect. Just right. We all had ambitions: to write, to make movies, to organize workers, to work in union law, to animate, to paint. We all lived in small (very) apartments in New York City. We bought our house, a stop on the underground railroad (perfect karma) and later, we bought the house next door, for you. We are all in love with upstate New York, after so many years.
What I'd say, after so many lucky years of being here each summer, spending so many weekends all year, just watching the sky, watching the mountains, listening, listening to all the sounds the country provides, what I'd say is that this is a place where life can be well lived if you allow yourself to just sit still and see.
