Family Friendly Berkeley Home

We are in a beautiful and friendly neighborhood in Berkeley with a short 5-7 minute walk from the BART station for a quick trip into San Francisco. There is a nice park around the corner and plenty to do within a mile or two — great food, parks, etc.

We were charmed by this old California 2-floor home. Since moving in we have done a lot of work to make this a comfortable getaway just outside the city. We feel like we are on a perpetual vacation here :)

We have a master bedroom upstairs and a children's bedroom across the hall with a crib and toddler bed (with room on the floor for an air mattress if your little ones aren't so little any more). Downstairs we have a large living room, a separate dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen opens into a laundry room (with washer and dryer) and off of that there is a guest bedroom with a twin bed.

The yard is a cozy space with string lighting over head, a fire pit, and some comfy chairs. Nice place to relax and warm by a fire on a chilly Berkeley night.

As a young family our space is very friendly to little ones: extending gate for the stairs if you need it, outlet covers, cabinet latches, and toys for the kids to play with.

We have plenty to do right here at home, and enough restaurants and shops nearby to keep you busy. The house has a fire pit with charming outdoor lighting. Inside we have internet, plenty of books, and toys for the kids. (we do not have a TV however)

We will be available via phone/text. We also have friends and kind neighbors that can help with any in-person needs. Just let us know :)

Berkeley is the perfect mix of bigger city style food and culture with plenty to do out doors. The hills are covered with a network of walking paths built during the depression is part of the WPA. There are endless parks each with unique quirks; Check out the cement slides at Codornices Park, the tiered gardens at the Berkeley Rose Garden, the views of the bay from the top of Indian Rock, etc.

Solano avenue is a good mile of interesting little shops and some great food (Cactus Taqueria!). Shattuck has some of the best food in the Bay Area: Chez Panisse if you're feeling fancy (eat upstairs for a much cheaper but still amazing meal); Cheese Board for some amazing and unique pizza (or cheese... or bread... it's all amazing); Cha'am for some great Thai, etc.

College avenue in Rockridge is a few miles away but is a great, almost Brooklyn-like neighborhood (we're ex-Brooklyners so it's a bit of home over there).

And don't miss the Cal Berkeley campus! Beautiful place!

For something a little more rugged, drive up Marin into the hills and 10 minutes later your in Tilden, a national park with plenty of hiking, a great petting zoo, and a mini steam train ride.

We are a 5-7 minute walk away from the BART for a quick ride into the city. Around the neighborhood there is plenty to do within 1 mile walking distancing or 2-5 mile driving distance.

Thank you for being a great host, Keenan! My father, roommate and I enjoyed staying at your lovely house. Everything was smooth from checking in to checking out. I loved your attention of details, and the personal pictures of your lovely family all over the house! The beds were comfy and the bed sheets were super clean and smelled heavenly! Also, the area is very safe and secure. The kids room is just adorable. Even though I didn't have kids with, but I assure you that if you have kids with you, this will be a five star hotel to you and to them. Keenan's recommended visiting Acme Bread, and I can see why! It's one of the best bakeries in the Bay Area and you can't just not like it. Bonus point: I was locked out as I forgot my keys inside the house and Keenan acted promptly and awesomely. I managed to get inside the house in 5 minutes. Thanks again Keenan for the great stay.

Keenan is a great host. Fantastic location. Beautiful garden.

We enjoyed our stay at the small, yet wonderful house! The listing was accurate and the host's response rate meant any questions were answered very quickly. Keenan was careful to ensure that the house was suitable for our needs. We found the spotlessly clean, with pretty flowers on the dining table as a bonus. While not within walking distance of shops etc, the house had all the basic amenities we needed. Its a great little house, especially for families with transportation. Recommended - easy in/easy out.
Thanks for visiting! You're welcome back any time.

The reservation was canceled 31 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

This was our first experience with airbnb. Keenan was very easy to contact by phone and email before and during our stay. He was always ready to answer any questions. His house is located in a quiet neighborhood, just a couple of blocks away from stores and restaurants. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Keenan!

very welcoming host. nice and clean place conveniently located. met all of our expectations.

Great house, great host, easy in and easy out. We rented Keenan's house for a Thanksgiving weekend trip to Berkeley. Don't pay any attention to prior kitchen comments, I cooked a full Thanksgiving meal for my family of 5 and the location was ideal for shuttling to and from Haas Pavilion for our oldest daughter's basketball tournament. The 4 of us that stayed at the house (husband, wife, 12 yo, 5 yo) were beyond comfortable and the set-up makes it hard to screw anything up. It's a quintessential Berkeley house perfect for any quintessential Berkeley weekend. If available, I would most certainly rent it again for future trips.

We are a family of 4 (soon to be 5!) living in Berkeley. We spent six years in Brooklyn, NY and still miss it but the Bay Area is home and we have fallen in love with the ambitious but laid-back culture, the perfect weather, and the immediate access to ocean, forrest, and city.

We host guests in our home any time we leave town, and we try to take short trips as often as we can. Our boys are two and four and perfect travel companions (as long as we keep the snacks flowing). We love adventures — making friends, finding the unexpected, and seeing things that would be hard to find in a guide book. We are easy guests. We spend most of our time out exploring, but love to stop back in for a nap if needed.

When the boys aren't keeping me busy I do freelance copywriting and editing for lifestyle publications and blogs. Keenan is a designer (he started his career doing book covers and logos but now does interactive and experience design at Airbnb). Silas (the oldest) loves animals (whale sharks and foxes) and bugs (snails and roly-polys) and Dre loves music (the slightest beat gets him moving).

For those that are looking to stay at our home, we are well outfitted for families. We've hosted people from nearby, and from far far away. We've hosted parents of college students, families in town for the holidays that need overflow space, and even people from the city looking for a change of pace. We love to travel and we love welcoming people into our home.
