The Village Green & Pavilion is an accommodation destination (with cricket ground!) in the rolling hills of the Strath Valley. Ideal for groups, our Bunkhouse sleeps up to 26 and all bookings get it exclusively. There are 4 bedrooms (3 bunk rooms & 1 room with 2 single beds) and 2 bathrooms. Our surrounding gardens, the enclosed oval and the Pavilion verandah are also yours to enjoy when not otherwise booked. Our gorgeous bushland, kangaroos and wombats, and vigorous hill climbs await you now!
Just an hour's drive north of Melbourne, the Village Green & Pavilion is an accommodation destination with its own cricket ground in the rolling hills of the Strath Valley. The facility was originally built as an English-style cricket ground with an accompanying pavilion – plus the Bunkhouse as accommodation for two cricket teams playing on the oval. The Bunkhouse has since been renovated and is ideal for many types of groups – friends, families, birthday parties and anniversaries, sports groups - even bucks’ weekends.
Our Bunkhouse has 3 bunk rooms (one sleeps 10, another 8, and 6 in third room), another bedroom with 2 single beds, 2 bathrooms & a large and comfortable open plan kitchen/lounge. We're a perfect base for families and large groups - we can accommodate up to 26!
We're just 85km north of Melbourne and en route to the snow at Mt Buller. We offer a green oasis in English county-style: an architect-designed pavilion overlooking a beautifully maintained cricket ground.
With 3 bunk rooms and a separate bedroom with just 2 singles, a large and comfortable open plan kitchen and lounge, our bunkhouse is a perfect base for families to come together, or for large groups of friends.
The Bunkhouse is a fully self-contained space, so you'll need to provide all your own food and supplies, including linen. Our beds are dressed with fitted sheets and pillows with pillowcases so please bring your own sleeping bags or top sheets and blankets, and your own towels.
The entire Bunkhouse will be yours for the duration, and you're free to wander over the property. There are some great - steep! - hills to climb, and kangaroos and wombats to observe. You can have your run of the cricket nets and oval (unless there's a game on, in which case we'll warn you well in advance of the booking) or just simply sit on the verandah and soak up the views.
*Please let us know in advance how many bunks you'll be using.*
There's a large hooded BBQ on the verandah, and a large outdoor campfire that you're welcome to use in the winter months, subject to any fire restrictions.
If you fancy getting out and about, you can take a bike ride along the Mansfield to Seymour rail trail, or take the kids up to the Kerrisdale Mountain Railway (less than 20 minute drive away). Plus there's local wineries, and you can take day outings to Yea, or Flowerdale, or Seymour.
We live on the property, up the hill in our own house. We'll be happy to come and say hello and welcome you to our property, but it's your holiday and we won't interrupt!
Don't forget to bring linen for the bunks! You'll also need to bring your own towels.
Guests have access to the Bunkhouse naturally, as well as most of our property. There's some great walks you can go on - up some quite steep hills - so bring your boots. We'll be happy to point out some of our favourite spots.
Depending on your plans, you may want to also book the Pavilion B&B; you can book the Pavilion itself for a function (catered or self-catered); or you cab book the ground for a proper game of cricket. If the ground is not otherwise booked, you may access it for social games of cricket, but anything more than playing gently with a soft ball is subject to a fee because of the wear & tear involved and need for ground preparation and maintenance. Please send an enquiry to find out more about this.
You're free to use the cricket nets.
We will look forward to receiving you when you arrive and we'll show you around, and give you the general lie of the land. We live on the property so we'll be available if you have any questions, but it's your holiday, so we'll let you relax in peace.
Tariff applies booking of up to 12 people. We can cater up to 26, but greater than 12 people will incur a charge of $30 per person, per night.
Day Visitors welcome.
You're welcome to invite people to visit you during your stay, however, they can't stay overnight without prior arrangement. To cover additional usage of water for drinking and toilets, plus wear and tear and extra waste disposal, we charge a fee of $10pp or $20 per family (2+2).
Dog friendly! By arrangement, we’re happy for you to bring your dog with you, provided it’s toilet trained and will be well supervised. For the comfort of other guests, we don’t allow dogs inside the Bunkhouse, but there's a covered area outside where they can sleep. There is livestock and there are native animals (kangaroos and wombats) on the property, so we do ask you call us to discuss, before your visit. We do require a cleaning fee of $10 per dog.
Smoking is permitted on the property but not inside the buildings.
We are John and Ros Rogers. Welcome to the Village Green & Pavilion - accommodation and a cricket ground just an hour away from Melbourne.
We have three accommodation offerings for AirBnB - but it's possible that on our 200 acre property, you won't know if anyone else is around or not.
We love where we are - known locally as The Valley of a Thousand Hills. Just 85km from Melbourne, we're in a perfect (and picturesque) spot for a weekend getaway.
We'd love to have you and share our beautiful spot of Victoria. We'll be happy to point you in the direction of local attractions.
