It's a smart Shed and it's Red...set on 14 acres in Hahndorf, nestled in the Adelaide Hills. It is quite private with a lovely view. It sleeps 6 with 2 queen beds in separate rooms, and 2 singles in the play area. Quaint, comfortable & cosy inside.
Although we are marketing our space as The Red Shed, it is very comfortable and pleasant inside and not "shed like" at all. It has a stunning view over the property, with horses roaming in the paddocks nearby. There are also chooks, goats and dogs - it really is a farm experience.
Inside our Red Shed, is a large bathroom, lounge, two bedrooms, one main (queen bed) and one smaller room (queen bed). There is a small room which can be used as a second lounge space or children's area. This space has the single bed in it and if you are booking for 6 people, there is another single mattress we put down on the floor. This can either then be moved during the day or left in situ. As a rule, space wise we really only say we accommodate for 5 but I have had so many request for the 6th space that this is our compromise.
(I would like to note here that we have a small unfenced dam, approximately 200m out of sight of the accommodation but if you bring children you need to be aware of this. It is only thigh high and empty in summer).
Guests have the whole studio, their own private outdoor patio area, and access to the beauty of the property itself!
Parking is right outside the door so unpacking the car is not a problem.
WiFi - Unfortunately it is not available, it is apparently the tin of the shed which causes the issues of access. If you bring your own wi-fi / hotspot there is no problem.
My family and I enjoy people! So we look forward to welcoming you and we will go out of our way to make sure you have the best possible time you can.
The Adelaide Hills region, while only being 25km from the city centre offers a charmed world of its own. The countryside is storybook-pretty. It is dappled in light, dotted with quaint villages and bustling towns.
Use the Adelaide Hills as a base for more touring. Adelaide, the Barossa and the Fleurieu Peninsula are all within an hour’s drive. Just get in the car and see where you end up.
When I tick the box saying "no parties" please understand that this does not mean no guests. We have many guests visiting family who like to invite them here for a meal or whatever. Of course this is fine, we just don't want anyone actually booking with the intention of having a full on party!
We will allow pets by prior arrangement. Please note that the Red Shed does not have a contained yard so please ensure your dog/s (or pets) are obedient and responsive as we have young horses and goats which I would hate to have chased or a dog kicked. Animals need to be inside at night.
I have many requests about riding my horses. I am very sorry but without the appropriate insurance and the appropriate horses, (they are not ridden a lot) I am unable to provide this service - even for a fee. Less than two minutes away there is the Hahndorf Farm Barn who give pony rides, and then at the other end of Hahndorf there is Kirby Park Riding School. I do not like having to say no, so felt that I should explain our situation here. If I have time and am around, I am happy to allow children to groom the horses under supervision, but I cannot guarantee I will always be available.
Please no smoking in the studio but you are welcome to outside.
I love my country life in the Adelaide Hills. I have two teenage children, 5 horses, 2 dogs, 7 chooks and even a husband. My family and I have been a host for many young people from around the world who have stayed and worked with us. Meeting people, animals, horse riding, gardening and cooking are my great passions - oh and travel when we get the chance. Being able to share the beauty of the Adelaide Hills and surrounding award winning wine region is a privilege I really enjoy.
