As the other reviewer mentioned, the Lewiston Hotel is rustic. However, that's what my husband and I were going for. There are five rooms, and they share two bathrooms, and there are no TVs or microwaves in the rooms. If you're willing to make the necessary compromises to stay in a piece of living history that's situated on a gorgeous property right on the river, this is the place for you.
Kerry is fantastic and was very friendly and accommodating. He made us feel very welcome, and enjoyed showing off the property to us. He even showed us the Dance Hall (very cool!). We ate in the restaurant - good food, great value, love the chef! - and hung out in the bar. Kerry even let my husband play his guitars, and my husband sort of ended up being the entertainment one evening. Also, he and his staff made a couple of excellent recommendations for places to go in Trinity County. Last but not least, Kerry made sure we spent some time down by the river, and it was so peaceful, quiet and relaxing I can't describe it.
We brought our dog, Dinka, with us, and the Lewiston Hotel is very dog friendly. In fact Kerry has a dog named Mikey who hangs out at the Hotel. (He loves belly rubs.) Kerry was fine with us leaving our dog in the room while we were out on the property, but asked us to take Dinka with us when we did anything that took us off the property.
All in all we had an amazing time, and will most likely go back.
