Quiet location but only two minutes walk from all the local facilities including supermarkets, boulangerie, bar, tabac and bank. Ideal for up to eight in two double beds, two singles (bunks) and a sofa-bed, we prefer to rent to families of four ... . Please "contact host" and tell me as much as possible about what you expect at Residence les Gentianes ...
We are only a couple of minutes walk from good food shops inc 2 supermarkets, a bakery and charcuterie, and the bank, tabac and Bar des 4 Chemins - so much better than some local addresses are several minutes drive from our village.
We're close to Lake Annecy and near to Annecy itself - ideal in Summer for Swimming in the fresh, clear water of Lake Annecy; Cycling on the dedicated Piste Cyclable (or follow routes taken by the Tour de France!); Paragliding (with one of the region's most popular landing stations in Doussard itself); Sailing; Fishing; playing Golf at two courses nearby; or simply relaxing with coffee or beer outside Bar des 4 Chemins; and in Winter for skiing at several ski-stations that are an easy drive from Residence les Gentianes without having to be tied to a single resort (visitors have skied at Le Semnoz, La Clusaz, Les Saisies, Megève, neighbours ski at Courchevel and Chamonix is reachable also); and for Annecy's Christmas Market.
Ideal also for Spring and Autumn breaks when you can see spectacular Spring and Autumn colours while watching hang-gliders soaring overhead and cyclists on the Piste Cyclable - the converted railway line from Annecy that passed Doussard en route to Ugine, approaching Albertville.

One of only three individually designed appartements in our building,
Residence les Gentianes sleeps 6 in the main bedroom (UK king size bed); mezzanine double bedroom; and bunks in bedroom 3. Including our sofa-bed, we can sleep up to 8, but 4-6 is best. Appartement 1 is equipped to a very high standard - your home from home - and it has a larger-than-usual balcony for family dining in the warm weather; view to Mt du Charbon; garage.
We've had visitors from UK, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland. Several British, French and Dutch families have visited 2 or 3 times; and two families have visited 5 times!
Visitors have access to everything from our English-language TV channels and our Internet access to the Bosch dishwasher and the washing machine and dryer in our own laundry room. Out and about, Annecy centre is just 20 minutes on the lakeside road, for shopping, restaurants, history and theatre. Cycle between Doussard and Annecy on the piste cyclable along the lake! There are water sports around the lake, and paragliding over it with an instructor. We’re convenient for golfers, being half way between the spectacular courses at Golf du lac d'Annecy on the east side of the lake and the 9 and 18-hole courses at Golf de Giez with views of Mont Blanc and Lac d'Annecy. Ski-ers can choose between La Clusaz, Les Saisies or Megève; and even Courchevel is within about an hour.
We provide whatever help and advice you need before arrival, including detailed directions from wherever you arrive in France and we send you the keys beforehand so there's no hassle having to find someone to let you into the appartement! (It will have been cleaned and prepared for you on the same day or the day before your arrival) After your arrival we don't trouble you at all, but we are only a phone call away if you need us ...
It's best to have a conversation before confirming the booking so send us an enquiry and we can discuss the details (probably by email because Airbnb prevent swapping specific contact details until you make the booking) so that you can be confident before we confirm that what we have is what you're looking for. For example, the total price that might be less than quoted for your dates because that includes an average daily fee for supplying bedlinen, towels and an "after-stay" clean, that's based on our one-off cost that's for 7 days, so it's less it you stay longer. Pricing varies, depending on the season, and the default price on the grid is our off-peak rate so we need to confirm the actual price for the week you want. Weekends are available only during the winter (Oct-Easter). We set weekly prices including providing bedlinen and towels, electricity, preparation for your arrival and the after-stay clean. August is our peak season but in Winter (the default rate indicated on the pricing grid), Spring and Autumn it's cheaper and part-weeks are possible - let's discuss the details!
There aren't many house rules, as we have not found them necessary - happily our visitors tend to be well-behaved, and we re-decorate regularly so that in more than 13 years our place looks as good as it did when it was new. Only once have I had to use a security deposit because of damage that obviously wasn't genuinely accidental.
When you book, I'll accept so that I can reach you by telephone within a few hours (before you are committed to the booking), for a conversation so we can both be sure that what you're looking for is what we have!
