Villa Smaragda is a two storey seafront house in the township of Varkiza right between Athens International Airport (aprox. 15 km) and the historic center of Athens (aprox. 29 km). It offers over 250 square meters of spacious indoor accommodation with two large shaded verandas, surrounded by a garden with a variety of plants, covering a total area of almost 800 square meters. It's open design enhances the outstanding view of the sea and the picturesque fishing port of Varkiza, providing a relaxed feel about the house. It is ideally located, less than a five minute walk to the town center and beaches, so you won't be needing a car during your stay here! The bus stop is just two minutes away and a few minutes further down you will find all you might need for your provisions. Its proximity to Athens 30 minutes away makes it ideal for visiting the Acropolis and the museums. At the same time the house provides a private haven for relaxing and resting, away from the city noise.
Villa Smaragda has a total of 4 bedrooms that can comfortably sleep 8 people. 3 bedrooms are on the top floor and the fourth is on the ground floor. There are 3 bathrooms in the house. One located on the first floor equipped with a bath tub-shower and the other two in the ground floor one of which has a shower while the other is a WC. A large open area on the ground floor shares a dining room and a living room with comfortable couches, satellite tv, dvd, wi-fi and a stereo system. An equally large shaded veranda in the front of the house overlooking the bay is the ideal place to either have your breakfast or have a drink watching the moon rise over the sea. The kitchen is a fully equipped with everything you might need from cooking pots and pans to utensils, glasses coffee and juice maker and a toaster. An additional reading room facing the second veranda completes the plan of the ground floor. All bedrooms as well as the living room are air-conditioned. The house has a central heating system with the a boiler for hot water and a laundry-room with washer-dryer in the basement. Ample linen and towels are provided and cleaning-gardening services are once a week. Additional cleaning services can be arranged. There is an indoor garage and private outdoor parking accessed through a remote-control operated gate. There are a couple of bicycles to facilitate you near-by transportation and a table tennis to keep you in shape.
Varkiza offers a relaxed setting all year long,with the summer being more active due to its variety of crystal clear beaches. Besides the numerous pebble coves there is a large organised beach with shallow waters, ideal for children. A lot of restaurants operate in the area offering local food and they are various cafes, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, a post office, a taxi stand and two movie theaters, everything within walking distance from the house. Traditionally a fishing village , Vakriza today has a modern marina that hosts fishing boats and yachts as well. An open air fish market operates on a daily basis selling the days catch. A long plaza connects the marina with the beach front, making it ideal for walking and traffic free bicycling. Water activities such as sailing and windsurfing lessons are organised by the local sailing club and water skiing is also available.
The historic center of Athens is less than half an hour away and so is the port of Piraeus. The temple of Poseidon in cape Sounio is about one hour south down the beautiful coast road. They are all accessible by public transportation. The township of Vouliagmeni with its ''sunken lake'' is just two km away and near by Glyfada offers serious shopping, dining and night clubbing. Guest will have access to the whole house and garden with the exception of the basement storage spaces.
Guests are greeted upon arrival, shown around the house and functional details are explained. Cleaning and gardening services provided are once a week. Additional cleaning services can be arranged.
I'm a musician-producer-sound engineer, therefore, the first thing I must have around is music. Travelling, meeting with friends and family, sailing and cooking are my favorite activities. As a guest I will be helpful but without imposing on your privacy.
