Maison de Laura is situated in a valley surrounded by vineyards in the village of Salsigne 20 minutes north of Carcassonne in the foothills of the Montagne Noir. The village has a local shop selling most items including fresh bread and croissants. There are no bars or restaurants in our village but in nearby villages. At Pont Rouge 15 minutes from Maison de Laura is a big complex with Carrefour , cinema and several restaurants. This area is steeped in history and there are many places to see and visit. We are within walking distance of the Cathar castles of Lastours. The caves of Limousis and Cabrespine are close by and the historic walled city of Carcassonne is a 30 minutes’ drive away. There is the Canal du Midi where you can take a boat trip or simply walk along the banks of the canal. In Carcassonne on a Saturday there is a market selling local produce and often there is live music which all adds to the atmosphere. It is ideal for walking holidays as we are in the heart of the countryside.

I have been married to Wally for 49 years and we have lived in France for 17 years. With two dogs and several cats.
In the UK we lived in Kent then moved to Cornwall before finally moving to France.
I like reading, sewing and home renovation. Wally is very good at DIY especially carpentry. Between us we have spent the last seventeen years turning our old farmhouse into the lovely house with the holiday cottage that we have today.
