Dining, Kitchen and Living room spaces are nice and comfortable. It is an old house but we have renovated to be energy efficient. It is well insulated with modern windows throughout except for the original leaded glass windows. It has new hardwood floor, ceiling and recessed lights in the first floor.
While your stay, you are sharing the house with me and my son and may be a couple of other guests- this is not a separate apartment.
Wireless high speed internet is throughout the house and included in the rental price.
Please free to hang out on the first floor living room. You are welcome to relax in the sofa on the front porch, or at the picnic table in the back patio.
The kitchen is shared. You have access to the coffee machine and the microwave. Please check with us if you are planning on cooking a meal so that we don't have too many cooks in the kitchen. No cooking after 10:30 pm
My son and I will be happy to help with directions, any questions you might have, and suggestions for outings, including off-the-beaten path. Our neighborhood, West Philadelphia / University City, has lots to offer, but the rest of Philadelphia is in easy reach through the public transportation system.
I am working during the day and my son is in school. The other guests have their own schedules but are usually not around during the day. You are welcome to come and go on your own schedule - we are usually deep sleepers, but please respect that quiet hours are necessary for our health & sanity - 9pm through 7am
We are a NO SHOES house. You can leave your shoes by the front door or keep them in your room, but please do not wear shoes in the house.
Feel free to use microwave, toaster oven, and stove for tea and coffee machine. Please clean up after yourself.
Our home is an old house. There is no sound proofing between the floors. If you are coming and going during quiet hours, that is no problem, but please remember that our bedrooms are right below you - sound penetrates straight into our bedrooms.
No smoking anywhere inside or around the house.
I have been living in Philadelphia for 17 years, and have lived in my current neighborhood for 15 years. I enjoy hosting airbnb guests and can offer ways to get around the city and good tips on where to eat. A number of our guests stayed with us while going to the different universities around or moving to Philadelphia and searching for an apartment job relocation. We can offer advice on getting established in the city.
I little about myself : I teach Spanish to little children in a private school in the area. I have the summers off and like to travel around. I've been in many places in Europe, Thailand, Turkey, Israel and Central America. I also visit Mexico where my family lives. I love to exercise, going to the gym and I love to do yoga. I live with my son who is 16 years old. My daughter is 19 and she is living in New York city going to college.
