foçada nezih bir hotel oda kahvaltı
It is our great pleasure to recommend the Melaike hotel. Selma is a perfect example of a fine Turkish host. She very graciously greeted us and served us homemade cake and Turkish cay (tea) upon our arrival; and made us feel very welcome. Her small, intimate hotel is bright and sunny and immaculately clean. Both she and her staff understand the guest/host relationship and raise it to a fine art. Her Turkish breakfasts are incredibly generous, with fresh bread (ekmek), several varieties of local olives, tomato, cucumber, peppers, eggs, two kinds of cheese, several choices of jams, fruit juice, and of course, topped off with the inimitable Turkish tea! Some days there were specialties for breakfast, like grilled cheese with parsley on toast and one day, even homemade pizza! The Melaike hotel is situated in a bucolic neighborhood of absolutely charming homes and small pensions (hotels). It is just a short walk from the hotel to the ancient harbor village of Foca (pronounced Foja). The views are stunning, the people friendly, the restaurants among the best you will ever eat in, and the local cats and dogs endlessly entertaining:-) Day trips to nearby Bergama to visit the ancient sites of the Acropolis and the Asklepion make this the perfect get-away. Selma gets our vote for super host for her kindness, generosity and hospitality. Bring your camera!
