Maurizio's place is wonderful regardless of why or how long you're visiting Venice. I stayed for three weeks while conducting research at the state archives and found the location central to both my needs and those of the average traveler. It's a quick walk to the Rialto Bridge, Rialto Market waterbus stop, and beautiful Frari Basilica. The room comfortably sleeps one or two people and is exactly as advertised in the images on this page. Maurizio lives in the other bedroom of the apartment while sharing it with his guest(s), and he was always warm and welcoming whenever I had directional questions, questions about how to use the kitchen/laundry facilities, or anything else. He's an extremely reliable communicator and will answer any questions you have about the apartment before he personally meets you at the waterbus stop to guide you to his place. If you're staying longer like I was and don't plan to sample a different one of Venice's lovely restaurants every day, his kitchen is fully equipped to help you cook on a budget, and nearby grocery stores are not hard to find. The most noticeable drawback is the lack of air conditioning, which is ruthless in the summer, but, if you're travelling in Italy, you need to get used to this anyway. Opening the windows helps with this issue. Aside from that, the path below the unit was occasionally noisy at night with the sounds of guests dragging their suitcases and checking into a nearby hotel, but you'll likely experience that everywhere in Venice. All in all, the drawbacks to this place are minimal, and the positives are too many to count.
Great host! Maurizio met us at the nearest vapporetto and guided us to his lovely and comfortable apartment. The apartment has everything you need for a great stay and it's in a quiet area. It is also very clean and the bed is comfortable. He gave us great suggestions where to eat and did not disappoint. We will definitely book again when we come back. Grazie, Maurizio!
Maurizio is a great host. Good, clear communicator, open, honest, friendly, very easy to be friends with. It is easy and a delight to visit such a city having the suggestions of a local at hand. This will save you a lot of money and you will get to know more about Venice than if you were staying alone or at a hotel. The location is great, close to the transit station, 10 to 15 beautiful minutes walk to San Marco Square. Your nights will be quiet and comfortable. Everything is clean and you will easily feel like home.
