The location of the apartment is fantastic! Rue Mouffetard is an amazing focus to this delightful “village” in Paris. Everything I wanted was walking distance. The immediate neighborhood is filled with shops of all sorts, and has many fellow pedestrians also shopping. The streets are lit at night and felt very safe for me to walk with my two daughters in the late evening. We easily walked to Notre Dame Cathedral and to Berthillon’s ice cream. The wifi is strong and consistent. The photos are accurate. We found the street address easily enough, but without an apartment number or further instruction, finding the apartment itself turned into quite the effort. The host was inaccessible by message or phone after we had arrived, found a street parking space, unloaded the children, and made our way to the address. Having no option we got back in the car and drove through town to see some sights while we awaited information to check in. A phone call two hours later while we were at the Louvre gave some instruction, which as it turned out was still unclear. She said her phone was not working so to use her husband’s number to contact her, but there was no answer and no reply after many attempts. As it was now 10:30 p.m. with no reply, my toddler was crying, I was frustrated having climbed 5 flights of stairs twice, so I just began putting the key into random doors and hoping to find a fit, without offending the neighbors. Worst check in process of all of our travels. Once we got in the place suited our needs. Photos do not allow you to know about sounds, smells, or temperatures -- The window views are plentiful, and allow a nice cross breeze if it gets hot. Night time noise is as one would expect in a central area, and we could still sleep. I have to sneak quietly at night so my toddler won’t wake, and the floors are very creaky. If you don’t have wee ones then it won’t bother you. There is some sort of walnut-ish smell to the apartment. These are historic buildings, so that may be it, but the scent remains on my luggage as we are still traveling. Louise graciously left coffee and milk to start us out, and it is handy to use the washing machine. The beds were comfortable.
