central new apartment - great view

While I am in Quito this is my home. The apartment is new and modern with new furniture and a gorgeous view from the 9th floor to Mt. Cotopaxi. It has a balcony to the south and is super central.

The apartment is super located in the Tourist area "La Mariscal" at Avenida Colón /9 de Octubre, absolutely central, close to everything. Internet cafes, bakery and restaurants in front of the building. Easy access to taxis and public transport, food stores, registration office "biciQ" (Quito-bike, free use of bicycles), ATM services. The location of the apartment is perfect for moving to any point of the city.
The apartment is on the 9th floor and has a living room with dining area, tasteful new furnishing, and a balcony with a beautiful view to the south to Mt. Cotopaxi and Panecillo and - due to large windows and southside it gets a lot of natural light.
Bedroom with a double bed (140x195 cm), modern LED-reading lamps, new 32"-LED-TV, towls, linen (american style and german style - both available), walking closet, bath room with shower and a fully equipped American style kitchen with table, stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board. Centralized 24-hour gas and hot water, telephone, 24-hour private security.
Normally, the apartments in Quito don't have heating and it can get quiet cold, especially after 6 p.m. For your comfort I provide an electric heater which you can easily connect in case you feel cold.

Ideal for single professional or couple visiting Quito for business or leisure. The building is modern and safe with first class finishes, permanent doorman and a small gym which can be used by guests, underground parking available. Special rate for stays longer than three months. Please, contact the host.

As this is my home I ask guest to treat it as their own.
It is a non-smoking appartment.

My husband and I stayed at Birgit's apartment for a little over a month when we were in Quito. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. The area was very close to a supermarket and it was very easy to walk around. We were a short walk to the Mariscal district which has a lot of bars and restaurants and about a 30 minute walk to Old Town (we highly recommend walking there on a Sunday when they close some of the streets to cars and it's just walkers and bicyclers). The only cons of the apartment was that it didn't have an oven for baking food and the couch wasn't very comfortable to sit on for long. However, I would highly recommend Birgit's place to future travelers. The building itself was very clean, as was the apartment, there is also a security guard at the entrance who were all very nice. I would absolutely stay here again.

Birgit's place is really nice, perfect for one or two people. It is in a secure building only a short walk to Foch Plaza. There is a Bus stop only a few minutes away that will take you downtown for only a quarter. Another thing I really enjoyed was the nice hot showers. All and all it was a great aparment at a great price!!

Nice, clean apartment in a great location near Plaza Foch. I did not meet Birgit but she maintained active communication and the checkin/out was very smooth. Looking forward to staying here again.
Thank you, Joseph, looking forward to host you again in the near future!

Nice apartment in a perfect location. Six blocks to the markets, six blocks to Plaza Foch, and typically a $4 taxi (or less) to el centro. Great views from the balcony and generally quiet neighbors in the building. The only thing I would have liked that isn't there is an oven, but we got by without one. Overall a very pleasant stay!
THERE IS A MOBILE ELECTRIC OVEN/HEATER in the appartment, which can be used in all rooms whenever you want. I bought it especially for the cold highland nights that can appear in Quito. (It is stored in the walking closet.)

Birgit made it very easy to stay in Quito. From a very detailed document containing everything from laundry instructions to the nearest grocery store and bakery. The apartment was great, and had terrific views from the bedroom and balcony. La Mariscal is a great neighborhood with a lot to do and see. Terrific resturants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I felt safe walking alone.

I was in Birgit's apartment for almost two months. She (remotely) and her brother-in-law Vincente got me setup in the apartment and were usually able to address any issues fairly quickly. Overall, I had a good experience. First, the water problem mentioned before has been fixed. The location is fairly convenient to most areas that you might want to go by foot or bus or taxi. There are many restaurants nearby and decent food shopping is about a 15m walk away. The building is secure and right on a major road. The security guards in the lobby are friendly. If you prefer a stiffer/harder mattress, the bed may not be for you. As I worked from the apartment, I used the internet a lot. It was mostly ok - seemed to go out a few times (to be expected) and might have some limitations for video streaming (like (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and Apple TV). Light and the view are great in the apartment since it is on the 9th floor. Noise pollution in general in Quito tends be more noticeable that other cities I have visited. That said, you might experience a bit more here because of the school a few blocks a way which starts classes around 7am. All-in-all, a few issues, but the apartment is a good value for the rent.
Hi Yujin, thanks for your stay and your recommendation and your observation about the mattress. You were absolutely right and I changed it for a comfortable and thick new mattress and hope that next time you will feel fine all around :-)

We stayed for almost two months in Birgit's apartment during our time in Ecuador. We were debating to stay between La Mariscal or the Centro Historico but we stayed here since most places downtown close at night. The apartment is modern and comfortable (with a fabulous view of Quito!) in a very secure high-rise building with friendly security guards. That's a very good thing, because as the last reviewer said, La Mariscal is fine during the day but is very different at night. Except for a few nice places (Cosa Nostra Pizzeria, Fried Bananas, La Carniceria) La Mariscal is unfortunately, both very touristy in an annoying way and is also seedy, shady, not well-lit and somewhat dangerous at night. Not a place to be strolling in the dark where strangers try to sell you drugs and offer services. Just be cautious and you should be ok. We didn't have any problems. A big plus: You can easily get to Downtown, La Floresta & La Carolina from the apartment, with a great bakery across the street. There was however one huge problem with the building. The water pump would get too hot, so management began to turn off the water, first at night, and then at random hours without a proper notice/schedule. (The apt. is on the 9th floor with elevator). We had to start using water bottles because we didn't know when we'd have water. Our host, Birgit, however, was very attentive and tried to help us with this problem as best as she could. We didn't meet her since she was in Europe. Unfortunately, we continued to have water problems so we had to leave before our last week. Birgit agreed to give us a refund so we could find another place. We heard the problem has since been solved. Besides the water problem, we had a good stay at Birgit's apartment.
