A converted quintessential flat to modern standards in quaint Notting Hill. Top floor flat offering incredible views of a historic church and traditional west London streets with bright lighting and an open plan layout. Top location in London.
Arrival was a simple affair and though we didn't meet our hostess, clear instructions were given. The flat was lovely and cosy. With a lived-in feel that was instantly homely. Note - there are five flights of stairs the last of which are quite narrow. So carrying up heavy suitcases involves a little workout! Our favourite area in London so always happy to be back in Notting Hill! With everything we want close by. Perfect for us!
It was an absolute joy to spend 10 days at Meg's house. She went out of her way to accommodate me at the last minute and was an incredibly thoughtful and helpful host. She made sure I was settled in and had everything I could need. Her house truly is the quintessential Nottinghill home. It is old and quirky as you would expect from this historic location but homey and absolutely perfect. The location is brilliant. It's between three different tube stations, which give you easy access to the central line, the district line, and the circle line. It is one stop away from Paddington station which means you're also near all of the train lines. The neighborhood is great! Close to portobello market but a bit quieter and off the beaten track. It is a very international neighborhood. There are also plenty of restaurants as well as cafés and various grocery stores. The best feature is that easy 5 minute walk to Hyde Park. It is a great place for a run or a stroll or simply a place to rest and relax. If you're looking for a place to rest that is close to the city but not in the middle of it this is the perfect spot for you. You'll feel like you are living like a local. I truly could not recommend Meg or her house more highly. I'd return in a heartbeat!
Meg’s apartment was a little hard to get used to at first, but by the end, I didn’t want to leave! It is in an older series of buildings, and on the very top floor. I had to drag my very heavy luggage up 5 flights of high, curving, tight stairs which really frustrated me but I understand nothing can be done about that. Meg was absolutely lovely and really made sure I understood where everything was and how to enjoy the place, which I really appreciated! Great dining/living area but I felt like the bedroom was a little sad looking because it literally only had 4 pieces of furniture, all of which were quite old. The place is actually a 2 bedroom, and one bedroom is locked- which I understand, but from a safety standpoint it worried me a bit. The actual area that the house is in- is A DREAM. I fell in love with the area. Just a shame that it wasn’t totally what I expected, especially for the price. Nonetheless, thank you Meg! You are exceptionally kind!
