Open & fresh, 2nd fl room w/ queen bed & airy drapings. Private space - closet, birdseye maple dressers & desk - for a relaxed, easy in-town stay. Walking distance to Track & Downtown. Shared bathroom down hall. (Single room also avail for family.)
Living in a 3-storied Victorian duplex (built in the early 1800's) has been a formidable and inviting task. This house has seen a lot of growth and a lot of living over the past 17 years! I suppose the most unique thing about our home would be the array of people, especially young adults who have sheltered here over the past 2 decades. The energy has always been welcoming, sometimes chaotic, but never, ever boring. Now we are looking to a new cycle and are welcoming a broader range of folks (like YOU!) to share a moment of your life with us! Welcome to the Spring Street Experience!
Guests are welcome to share our common spaces on the first floor, including the front parlor (with piano), dining room and kitchen. WiFi is available in the bedrooms and Rich could be leaned on to share flatscreen time. We are very sensitive to different dietary needs ... please let us know if you'll need access to the refrigerator. The front porch swing might call you to people-watch during the warmer months. And we could make the washer & dryer available, if there was an unexpected need. (Our room and bath is up on the 3rd floor, btw.)
Rich and I enjoy people. And we have pretty full lives ... We would love a chance to get to know you and to share in what brings you to Saratoga Springs. You should also know that we are sensitive to folks needing space and quiet. We hope to create a welcoming environment that will be comfortable and relaxed and will encourage you to feel free to come and go, as you please.
We do have several cats (and still miss our labrador very much). Please let us know if cats are an issue for you. I can clean and air the room and close it off for a few days, which might help the comfort of your stay.
Please note: Alternate-side-of-the-street Parking is available (8 a.m. transition, except for Sundays). It may be possible to work out off-street parking with prior arrangements, but this cannot be guaranteed, given other guests and family accommodations.
Respect, good communication, respect, openness, respect, good humor, and, finally, respect. (Smoking inside of the house is not permitted.)
Rich and I have lived in Saratoga Springs for 20 years, raising 3 kids, and an array of pets (2 cats & 1 young dog, at this point). Rich is a design/build contractor, specializing in green construction and currently working in spray foam insulation. I am a professional actor and presentation/performance coach. We live in one-half of a Victorian duplex, which was built in the 1800's, possibly the oldest house on the block (we rent out the other side).
Our kids are all off to school, so our home is a lot quieter than it's been in many years! We're a relaxed, easy-going family, quite used to sharing our home with revolving family, friends and young folk. We have a love of the Adirondacks, the outdoors, travel, music, art & film, education, the environment, TED talks, and people & their stories. We look forward to sharing our home and our wonderful city with you and doing what we can to make your stay in Saratoga easy and comfortable.
