Wrapped in the dazzling sunlight of this beautiful land, the B & B "Il Dito e la Luna" is located almost at the top to "Scala di Santa Maria del Monte", a unique historical architecture in the world, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
The nineteenth-century Sicilian-style building, beautifully restored, stands on a small square overlooking the romantic "La Scala" whose summit stands the net enjoyable view of the city. We are in Caltagirone, Queen of the Mountains Erei that welcomes the traveler with an ancient landscape, almost the image of a crib. The B & B, so placed, allows various visits and tours, historic sites of the island.
the city keeps memory of the ancient Arab origin "to Qal'at gharun" or the city of potters: which produces a variety of fine ceramics. From the Arabs to the Genoese, the Normans, the Sicilian Vespers, to the Bourbon period and so on, the story comes to us in the pleasantness of streets, with typical architecture and colours.
The old patrician houses reminiscent of eighteenth and nineteenth dominations, leaving the taste of old charm the visitor care. From there leave the several landscaping ideas, traditional and non, retracing through the careful guidance of Mrs. Donatella: this part of Sicily is situated in a prime location and ideal for helping to discover its history, traditions and past glories: from Syracuse to Agrigento, Taormina, Pantalica.
And do not forget the visit of the "alleys" of the city forming the historical centre in simpler but more authentic look, as enriched in the architecture of small houses and narrow streets, squares and balconies full of flowers that run in a series of salts and down, respecting the nature of the rugged territory in a succession of charming and intimate squares, ancient railings and delicate ceramic colours, placed here and there to decorate homes.
The feudal nobility and soul of the city is rather well expressed in the baroque facades of historic Via S. Bonaventure etc.. (Gravina Palace, Palazzo Spadaro, Peace Palace, etc..)
On the top of that scale are also placed, recently opened, the art gallery and library of the city, located in the ancient college of St. Augustine.
Access to the room is independent, guests are provided with a key, and they are required to always make sure that the gates remain closed during the night.
