Ancient independent and finely restored little house situated in a calm and picturesque area in the center of Modica Alta. Romantic terrace with splendid views, separate kitchen, loft with a comfortable bed, A/C, wifi. All facilities are just a 5min walk. Free parking at a few minutes walking. Nice restaurants, pizza places, supermarket at walking distance.
The house is ideal to enjoy a romantic atmosphere in one of the best areas in Modica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where time seems to stand still. Modica Alta is a very quiet, safe yet central neighborhood in Modica.
It is located in the southern area of Iblei Mountains, close to Mediterranean golden beaches, fishermen villages and splendid Baroque towns of Val di Noto. Being independent and very cozy, the house is a perfect base to relax and discover the beauties of Southeastern Sicily.
In Modica you can walk around, rent e-bikes and a car is very useful to explore the surroundings.
The house is finely decorated and renovated with love by me and my family to preserve its original charm while providing it with modern utilities (TV, A/C, oven, washing machine, etc.).
Ideal to have a wine privately but also to enjoy an early breakfast, the sunny terrace has a dining table surrounded by palms and a truly romantic setting. The view from it is very charming, especially at night.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and decorated with hand painted tiles. Blue stairs lead to the bedroom on a loft with cushions and place to sit and read.
At a few minutes by walking from the house there is a free parking area where you can easily park.
The neighbourhood and surroundings
Modica Alta is the most authentic part of Modica. The position is ideal as the sun shines on it so you can enjoy a breakfast in the sun, and it's magic as-being more elevated- you can see the dim lights of the city all around you.
I suggest you to get lost in the neighborhood and you'll be surprised by its beautiful balconies, narrow small streets and welcoming people.
Close to the house you will find the Mercato di Santa Teresa, a well equipped supermarket with a great selection of local vegetables and fruit.
There is also a cinema that shows selected movies and a nice enoteca with music and excellent wine (Rappa Enoteca). Restaurants and pasticcerie to taste Sicilian cannoli and other specialties are also located nearby.
There are plenty of monuments, beaches, historical towns of Sicily to explore and car rental is highly recommended to move around. The Duomo di San Giorgio is the symbol of the city, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Sicily and you can see it from the terrace of the house. Many traditional restaurants, cafes, shops selling the famous Modica chocolate, cannoli alla ricotta and other specialties as well as a supermarket are located very close to the house. I can provide you with hints and tips about restaurants and places to visit if you wish.
You can arrive anytime after 1pm as I will provide you with a code to access the house and 2 useful maps to show you where the house is exactly located. Once inside you will find the keys you will use.
Check out at 10am.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me and I will try to do my best to meet your demands.
Internet is wifi. You will find internet instructions in the house.
Please note that wifi is not limitless so kindly use internet for basic navigation only.
I am a teacher of Italian language and culture and in my free time I love painting, swimming and traveling exploring new cultures. What I love of Sicily are its vivid colors, rural life, welcoming people and -last but not least- delicious specialties. I would like that visitors who come to Modica would feel at home and experience the best out of this beautiful baroque gem. The house is renovated and painted by me and my family by conserving its original charm and make it warm and welcoming.
I speak many languages and know most of the cool places in Modica.
Being a big traveller myself, I do my best to provide the same comfort and reliability I would like to have during one of my trips. A presto :)
