Peaceful and relaxing Grove Cottage
Peaceful and relaxing Grove Cottage

The Grove has all the charm of a country cottage. Surrounded by a lush 5 acre garden created over a hundred years ago, it is the perfect place for the whole family, peaceful and relaxing but also close to beaches and mountains for swimming and walking.

The Grove cottage is one of 5 cottages located at the same destination, all unique in style and age created from one large country mansion in the heart of the welsh countryside. It is A generous size with a separate living room and dinning with a solid fuel stove for comfort. It overlooked the great Wellingtonia tree in the garden that towers 100 feet over the garden.

The lock box for your cottage key is location in a porch by a red front door toward the front lawn. The lock box code will be sent to you prior to your arrival. It can also be acquired from the location manager on site, Kym at Garden Cottage.
All guests have access to the whole 5 acre garden. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer available at a nominal fee.

I am an email away with any questions you might have and the site manager is available in the morning and evening.

There are great places to visit locally, including King Arthur's Labyrinth, Devil's Bridge, the university town of Aberystwyth, The Center for Alternative Technology with everything green and of course the picturesque market towns of Machynlleth and Newtown.

There is no smoking in any of our cottages. Pets must not be left unattended at any time in the cottage and must be on a leash at all times in the garden. Pet covers must be used on a seating and a pets bed must be provided by the pet owner. The cottage must be left in a clean and tidy state before departure. All rubbish must be dropped at the rubbish bin by the main road. All recycling items should taken to the recycling trailer under the carport.

A drawback is that towels are not supplied(although this is advised on the welcome email), WiFi was not working and too many rules(recycling, check-out) with penalties make you feel as comfortable as you should

Our stay at the Grove was enjoyable. The cottage was rustic and true to its style. The location was great and neighbours were friendly. The kitchen equipment was basic but everything else in the property was authentic and working. It would have helped to be able to check out later than 10am. There is a request to remove bed linen before checking out which was an unnecessary job. Otherwise we had a good experience and would visit again.

Daniel's place is tucked away in a lovely location. Really good communication meant that everything was clear and easy. The cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped. The internet connection appeared to be a bit weather-sensitive but it wasn't an issue - almost a blessing. We had a really pleasant stay and would definitely repeat.

The review written by my husband: We came to the holiday cottage in Powys with high expectations, based on many AirBNB trips where we have found a wonderful home, caring and attentive hosts and good information. While there was nothing wrong with this trip, it was slightly underwhelming. The cottage is situated at the end of a long private driveway in a lovely valley with very nice views a short walk away in the communal garden area. Surrounded by mountains, green fields and of course the ubiquitous sheep it is very Welsh. Nearby in Cemmaes is a wonderful pub, and the other direction has a great inn called 'The Brigands Inn'. Within 30 minutes drive in each direction you can find some Forest Parks which are amazing, and a little further out is Snowden itself. Unfortunately the holiday cottage itself is not quite as spectacular: while it has the framework of a lovely space, it has been finished rather inexpensively. It is not fair to expect a welsh cottage to be open and airy, but it smelled quite musty. There was none of the advertised wifi for our use, we were required to piggy-back off of Wifi in adjacent buildings. Two of the heaters were broken (and this was known by the caretaker). There was a coffee machine and a radio, but no plugs. Generally the furniture, cutlery, etc. appeared to be something one would pick up from a charity shop, and the gallery kitchen had the appearance of a DIY'er. We did not have the pleasure of meeting Daniel during our stay as he was away, although his caretaker Kym visited to advise us of the broken heaters nad lack of wifi. There was a creased, single-page print-out detailing the shops and a pub in the nearby area. We came to find many post-it notes and pieces of paper scattered around no doubt to cover all eventualities and questions, but which gave the impression of proscription: what to recycle, where to put our rubbish, which drawstring to pull in the shower, which switch to leave on, where not let the dog, what not to touch, etc. Finally, it was slightly disheartening to find out that washing facilities were on a paid basis, as was wood for the fire- compounded with an impersonal note that we would be charged £50 for not being out of the house by 10am gave a very rough impression. Overall my wife and I love this area and will be back for a third time, but won't be coming back to this cottage.

A group of us booked both the Grove and Pool cottages here is out overall feedback from our stay. Positives - Clean and decent space - Beautiful area Negative - no working internet/wifi, important in such a secluded are with poor connectivity - doors/toilets didn't have functioning locks - sinks clogged after we tried to clean up after ourselves. we hired two coattages and the same meal and cleaned the same way and the other sink didnt clog. Owner made us feel like it was our fault when there was an existing issue with the sink. - told to leave at 10am, mates left at 10.15am (admit 15mins late). we were told cleaner came, waited for an hour and then left. this was a lie. - strange we were told to take off bedsheets, surely thats the cleaners job? - essentials come at a price so shouldnt really be advertised.

Fantastic location, especially if you are looking for peace and tranquility. accommodation was basic, clean and well presented, we appreciated the welcome pack provided. Good stay overall

We had a lovely stay in Grove Cottage. The cottage was nice, clean, and cosey, and had everything we needed. We especially liked the wood burner which kept us warm on some really cold nights. The cottage has beautiful grounds and is really well located for getting out and exploring the Welsh countryside.
