Blackwood Lodge is a short drive south of Hobart. The lodge is spacious, warm,sunny and private with stunning northerly views of Mt Wellington and nearby hills. As guests, you will have the private use of our home. This includes the master bedroom with magnificent views, own WC, reading nook, comfortable lounge and upstairs a well-appointed kitchen and bathroom. There is also a piano and TV for entertainment. Free unlimited WiFi connection. In addition, you can closely watch many native animals grazing right outside the window at dawn and dusk.
Over the years we have collected hand-loomed rugs, antique and collectable furniture, original art works and other nice things! As guests we trust you with this space and know the addition of lovely surroundings inside will enhance your overall experience. Our house-rules include no shoes or candles inside, French polishing is fragile, please do not place anything damp on any furniture - there are drying racks and towel rails for your use as well as coasters for drinks. Please use rain water wisely and enjoy the peace and quiet of this unique property.
Blackwood Lodge is a hill-side, north-facing 10 acre retreat, a short 12 - 15 minute drive south of Hobart. Secure off street-parking is offered. Guests access the lodge through the main entrance which is at the end of a short pathway leading down from the car parking. Guests enter and are immediately amazed at the striking mountain views right before them!
The new and spacious upstairs guest bathroom includes a WC and large, walk-in shower, fluffy white towels, a variety of soaps and shampoo as well as other toiletries for your convenience.
The well-appointed kitchen will be stocked with fresh farm eggs, jams, fresh bread, a variety of cereals and milks, teas and fair-trade ground coffee.
Explore the nearby area. There are several walking trails nearby. Mt Wellington and the Channel including Bruny Island are close. We are also at the gateway to the beautiful Huon Valley including Cygnet, the Tahune Airwalk and Hastings Caves as well as the Hartz Mountains and South Coast Wilderness areas.
There is an outdoor viewing deck for birds and animals.
We can be as helpful and chatty or leave you to enjoy our property in peace. Its up to you. We've been around a while and know how different people tick.

Blackwood Lodge has exceptional water quality. The water is gravity-fed tank water.
While close to the city, guests always remark on how quiet and peaceful the lodge is.
Our property is managed in an ecological manner so no sprays or chemicals are used here. The house is constructed of celery-top pine which is a minor, endemic Tasmanian rainforest timber species.
We are in a rural area - you will see wildlife including wallabies and birds. This lodge is a wedge-tailed eagle and kookaburra habitat, echidnas pass through the garden regularly and possums love to visit. The wild life species are timid and require our careful protection.

No candles under any circumstances. This is a wooden house in a bush setting - say no more.
Please remove your shoes at the door. We have beautiful rugs and flooring.
