HOST: Rosana was a very kind host who went way beyond her expected duties. I was a mess and had lost my phone and money; she drove me around to find the phone and to go to other phone companies to buy another (I needed a phone for Italy since I was moving to Reggio Calabria a few days later). Also, one day I was lost until 2-3am in the center of Rome because of a subway strike and lack of know-how, and she handled everything with stride. She provided breakfast and dinner whenever I was around, and she even invited me to visit some small towns in the Umbria region and to see her garden! APARTMENT: The apartment is very large and spacious. I had my own room which had a comfortable bed, a large desk (where she had left cookies for me on my first day), an armchair, a TV, and a patio. Accommodations were more than adequate. LOCATION: As the map indicates, this place is quite far from the center of Rome. When the strike occurred, it was particularly hard to get home because very few buses passed by that area at night. I had to wait over 2 hours for a bus to take me to the center and over 3-4 hours for one to take me to the Anagnina station. Since she doesn't live exactly close to the station either, I decided to call a taxi to take me directly to her apartment instead of disturbing her. She was so worried about me that she had waited up for me. LANGUAGE: I appreciated the fact that Rosana does not speak any English because it helped me with my budding Italian. However, if you do not speak Italian, I do not recommend trying this location. If you know some Italian or more, consider staying here. I enjoyed living like an Italian resident by night and an international tourist by day. Grazie mille, Rosana, per tutto.
